I chose this hotel based on reviews and location to Principality Stadium as we were attending the Stereophonics concert. Other reviewers mentioned the hotel's 'character' and was 'quirky'. Personally, I found the decor to be tacky and themed - from the flaking sign outside the hotel, the miners lights, artifical grass and fake sheep. I didn't like how the hotel was divided into two parts - if you have a level one room you have to walk out of the hotel into the shopping aracde and use the lifts there .The rooms also overlook an internal courtyard rather than having external views onto the High Street. The shopping arcade does not have any shops, only a tanning salon and Barbers. Our room was clean but we found communal areas could do with a bit of hoovering. However, it was a busy weekend. The colour scheme of the hotel was grey and brown ,which I found to be dark and gloomy . This however, is all down to my personal taste. On the things that matter - the bed was comfortable, the shower good, great breakfast and we appreciated the air conditioning as we stayed during the heatwave. The reception and waiting staff were friendly and efficient. We enjoyed drinks on the rooftop terrace bar in the sunshine. The hotel was in a good location, close to the train station, stadium and all the attractions. If you like a hotel that is full of character with themed decor this may be the hotel for you. Personally I will be sticking to bland corporates from now on!
