I was traveling with my family — two adults and two small children (a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old) — and booked a double room, as I’ve done many times in other hotels without issue.
Upon arrival, the receptionist informed us that having four people in a double room was not allowed.
I calmly explained that we had never encountered this policy before and asked why we would need to pay for an extra bed, especially since our baby doesn’t even use one. The receptionist was unwilling to listen, and instead called the manager several times.
While we waited, another guest walked into the lobby, and the receptionist began openly complaining about us. I found this behavior completely unprofessional and disrespectful.
I asked to cancel the reservation so we could go elsewhere, but the manager told us that a refund was not possible. As a compromise, he agreed not to charge for the baby and waived breakfast charges for our toddler. Left with no alternative, we stayed for one night.
Do yourself a favor: choose a different hotel with better customer service and flexibility — especially if you’re traveling with small children.
