Very basic but convenient hostel

Grey Nuns Residence is actually Concordia university apartment, centrally located in Montreal downtown, busy and very convenient, minutes walk to metro station. I lived in the 4/F., but it is top floor, very hot in this summer. For us, it is fine because we went out every day and back to our room after 10pm. But if you want to stay in the afternoon, go to find somewhere else. Room is really big, we had two single beds, two study desk with chairs, one washing basins, but no private bathroom, no A/c, common shower room, toilet, completely college feel, nothing luxury! Get key and self service. Beware of parkings are only available during weekdays, $10 all day( not bad), but not available during weekend. However, it is terribly to find parking during Friday & Sat nights.

This is a historic old building located right next to Guy Concordia metro. It is only open for about two months during summer. I stayed there about five times over the years.

Great value for money, centrally located and easy walking distance to restaurants, shopping, the old town and Mount Royal. But be prepared for a serious dose of college dorm nostalgia.

Als ich am Abend in der Unterkunft ankam - völlig übermüdet und erschöpft von Jetlag und Interkontflug, war die Reception wegen Pause geschlossen - 2 Stunde, bevor sie ohnehin schließen sollte. Also 1h warten. Dass die Zimmer Basic sein werden, war mir klar. Aber man sollte nicht erwarten, dass der Zustand so ist, wie auf den Bildern. Aber egal - ich war hundemüde und wollte schlafen. Das habe ich dann auch - trotz Hitze und lautem Ventilator. Bis gegen 4 Uhr eine Putzkolonne durch meinen Flur schepperte. Absolut ohne Rücksicht auf schlafende Gäste. Abgesehen von diesen Punkten war die Unterkunft ok. Günstig im Preis, günstig gelegen, Kloster“Charme“, gute Verkehrsanbindung. Aber man sollte nicht zuviel erwarten.

Worst stay of my life. The room smelled like a mix of mildew and burnt popcorn. The bed was harder than concrete, and the sheets had stains. The pictures online were a complete lie. Never coming back!. Absolutely disgusting. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years, the water barely ran, and there were bugs everywhere. Expedia needs to remove this listing immediately.If you value sleep, hygiene, or your money, avoid this place at all costs. The heater didn’t work, and the staff acted like they didn’t care. I want a full refund. False advertising. This is not a cozy student accommodation—it’s a nightmare. Never again.

First of all it's an historical building. I love minimalism - and I also like being frugal. So this met my criteria. And you are right downtown by St Catherine St. I wanted to rebook - but it seems they only allow visitor booking in the summer time.

it was so hot the building and worse in the rooms i could've sleep even with window open there was a fan in the room but it did nothing. yet the staff down stairs had an AC it was comfortable for them. i wouldn't stay there in the summer not sure about the winter.

The location and quiet, beautiful grounds were amazing and felt very safe. The room itself was clean and adequate, not really anything you could call comfortable but very serviceable with a fine bed and ensuite bathroom, The front desk staff were lovely and extremely helpful, as were security staff who seemed to do frequent walkarounds of the rambling building.

Typical dorm room

This is basic accommodation in a spacious dorm room. You have a sink and fridge and a fan. No AC. There are stairs at the entrance. It was clean and quiet.
