Value for money but the facilities in the room is a bit old although it appears to be already renovated for such a heritage hotel. the door lock is a bit broken and the celing of the wardrope has a big hole. Other than that is fine.

It’s a grand old hotel with lovely ceilings in the foyer in particular. The receptionists are very pleasant and welcoming. I was in a very nicely refurbished room on the second floor. Very comfortable and clean, and a really good shower with very good water pressure. I slept well, and enjoyed being close to cafes and the railway station. All in all a really nice place to stay. It will be my first choice next time I travel to Timaru.

Overall really good.

On arrival the reception area did not appeal too much. However the receptionist was very welcoming and friendly. Our room was on the second floor and we were so pleased with it. The whole floor has been recently refurbished and our room at the front was lovely.

Excellent Southern hospitality and kindness

We stayed 2 nights at the Grosvenor for the first and last night of our 14-day cycling holiday. Staff were extremely friendly and hospitable. Moreover they went out of their way to help us. First by allowing us to store our bike boxes, second by providing us with a bucket to clean our muddy bikes when we returned and third and most importantly helping us to catch our plane on time. We had booked a van through Timaru Taxis. However when we rang the company past our scheduled pickup time they advised us that they do not operate vans on the weekend. With less than an hour to spare prior to bag drop off Carol, one of the staff members, asked her husband to transport us and our boxes to the airport. Without their kindness we would have been stranded in Timaru for another day. Super grateful for everything

I did advised the reception the next day. The shower needed attention. The water would drain very slowly and the shower base would over flow. One of the over the bed lights doesn’t work. Was very dim.. But did have a good sleep..

Room was updated nice bright paint and decor. However, no trash receptacle in the bathroom. Bathroom sink was cool, but drained slow and would have been nicer to have a bigger counter than a large sink. Was a dirty towel hanging on hook when we checked in.
