Great Location & Breakfast, but Room Needs Att!
I recently stayed at Castle Lodge Hotel and had a mixed experience.
The location is convenient, just off the dual carriageway and close to Ross-on-Wye — yet surprisingly quiet with little to no road noise. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was a highlight, offering a good selection including a well-cooked hot option.
That said, the room was quite dusty, with noticeable cobwebs, which gave the impression it hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned. The bathroom was very small and felt cramped, and I personally found the bed uncomfortable, though I appreciate comfort can vary for different people.
Overall, it’s a charming place with potential, but it would benefit from improved housekeeping and some room updates. Fine for a short stay if you’re not too particular, but not without its downsides.
