The condition of Room 203 in Ash&9th (San Diego), where I booked Dec 1st to 6th and actually stayed on Dec 1st to 5th, was problematic. Specifically: * The heater did not function properly — it was not warm, made loud noises, and was difficult to turn on. * The drawer slid out by itself unexpectedly, which was frightening. It was then fixed by tightening it shut, making it unusable. These issues made it difficult for me to continue staying in the room, and therefore I had no choice but to check out on the morning of Dec. 5th.

This place is fine. It is clean, the location is great and the shower is heavenly. That said Ash&9th has the single worst pillows I’ve ever had to use anywhere - including tent camping. I’m used to bad pillows at Motels but these were next level. They’re thick, dense, lumpy balls - they’re not even pillow shaped. It’s clear that no one involved in running the place or doing the ordering has ever bothered to try and sleep with these things or they would know how bad they are. The building is really just an old Motel 6 or Super 8 type motel with a fresh coat of paint. But even Motel 6 puts out some free muffins and yogurt with the coffee in the morning. Here I had to pay $$ for a couple stale Uncrustables from a half empty freezer - and then the guy at the desk gently accused me of shoplifting because he wasn’t paying attention and didn’t hear the beep when my Apple Pay went through at the self-service kiosk. Is any of this a deal breaker on its own? No. But at $200/night (on discount), it starts to feel like I could probably find somewhere a lot nicer for just a little bit more money. Oh and they only gave us one key for three people.

Inside the room was clean and updated but the outside of the property has a lot of room for improvement. It’s smelled like pee and it was dirty, my fist impression was that it wouldn’t be safe for me to stay there with my son but since I just needed a night in a place near the airport and since I payed in advance I kept the room. The staff was nice and helpful but I just locked myself in the room and didn’t go out. Lots of homeless people around the area and noise from the other rooms. You get wha you pay for.

This place was listed as a hotel. It is not a hotel. It is a motel and the entrance to your rooms are from outside. The rooms have recently been redone still some old furniture, but they’re hard floors no carpet they were clean. The property itself needed a lot of work the lobby when you walk in had a weird smell and really needed an updating, but the people were nice based on the ratings. I expected it to be higher than it was.

Ash&9th was a good hotel in the downtown SD area. Staff was helpful. I worked w Mark last minute to request an early check in, and he accommodated my request for a fee of $40 which was not bad at all. The room was as large as my 250sq ft apt. It was big! The room was very clean. It came w a micro, mini fridge, and coffee maker. I attempted to watch TV, but the Direct TV satellite was giving an error notification so I gave up. The room also came w a wireless charging alarm clock. The bed was a king sized bed, very clean and comfy. Bathroom had a rainfall showerhead and communal body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in the shower. The only suggestion I would make is for a little shelf in the shower to put my own toiletries on, and a shower hook. But those were negligible suggestions and easy to overlook. The maintenance staff was so nice as well, and accommodated my request for extra trash bags for my room. There is also a little mini snack shop in the lobby. If you're walking, be aware the hotel is on a hill. So there is an uphill climb to get to it. All in all, it was a good stay.

The walkways and ancient elevator dont make a great 1st impression...but once you get in your room its very modern with light up mirrors and nice hardwood floors. I just got a large studio made even larger by the sliding glass door opening up into a deck with chairs and a table! Perfect place to watch the sunrise.. .and yes they still have a coffee maker in the room

the shower still had hair from the person prior, one of the staff members was really rude to us, complaining about how she just came from her previous job working 12 hours so she couldn’t help us, the TV in the room did not work and the front desk said she couldn’t do anything about it. the hotel did not live up to what I expected

deposit is 100, parking is 25. the room was nice but looked like it was trying too hard to be modern. the shower was a stand in shower with curtains, the entire bathroom would flood. the person attending us was very monotone and quiet. it was quite loud outside. but of course you get what you pay for. i would not pay anything more than 70 bucks to stay here.

Hotel was okay my only issue was that I got charged for parking on the property. However I did not park there because it was full. While checking out I told the receptionist this and was told I would get that parking fee back with the deposit. I still did not receive that refund.
