This was a last minute booking so our room was in the new annex but the property as a whole is great and the breakfast was excellent

We will be staying again.

Had previously stayed at the Master Builders 5 years ago and the same excellent service was still displayed by all the staff. The choice and quality of the food in the restaurant and for breakfast was very good.

Fabulous hotel

What a wonderful hotel, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was lovely and clean, nice touches such as a complimentary bottle of pink gin and shortbread biscuits and treats for the the doggy as well as a bed and bowl provided. Really scenic location as well would highly recommend.
Comfy doggy bed and a lots of yummy food to choose from on the pup menu

The situation was excellent. Very friendly staff. Fine dining although the breakfasts were average. The bar served fine beer and offered a good eating alternative to the hotel restaurant. The room was comfortable and quiet with instant hot water and an excellent shower.

8/10 Very good

Elegant hotel in a great location overlooking the river. Room was quite small, up in the roof (so sloping ceilings), but comfortable bed. No shower screen, just shower spray on bath. Good breakfast with plenty of options.
Christopher, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

A very nice location and very peaceful. Some areas of the old main building need attention but may be expected. Access to the upper floors has stairs with narrow treads. Staff excellent.

A stopover when walking The Solent Way

Unique setting and an ideal stopping point when walking the Solent Way. However we felt it was over priced for the quality of the room. A pleasant enough room but the bed was worn sloping from the centre to both sides and the toilet flush didn’t work effectively and there was no toilet brush. All staff were delightful friendly and helpful. The food in the pub was good and the service excellent.
Sally, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Bench seating in main Restaurant too low for table height, cushions required even for tall guests. In all other respects a very happy and comfortable two night stay. Thank you.
2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Stayed for one night. We had to ask to change our room due to it being right up in the top of the building. It was up some really steep narrow stairs which I found difficult with walking problems. We also found it very claustrophobic. However reception were wonderful and immediately moved us to a different room which much better. We ate dinner in Henry’s Bar which was fine and breakfast in Riverview. The hot food was good but cups and plates etc weren’t very clean. We also found the continental area a bit messy. The toaster was very temperamental not just with us, everyone that was using it had problems. Overall we had a good stay, the staff were great but felt the hotel lacked attention to detail.

Well worth a stay

A lovely place to stay. Beautiful room , very smart and clean, lovely river views, comfy bed and spotless linen.Only downside to room 19 is the noise during the day and early eve from people eating below on the terrace, but very quiet overnight. Also before 9am in the morning, hammer banging and electric drill noise outside window next to our headboard, suggest workmen check if room occupied before commencing work! But overall would recommend a stay, the staff were all very friendly and attentive and dinner in the restaurant was excellent.

A very enjoyable stay. Staff were great and food excellent . Coffee and tea availability quite poor in room. No instant coffee sachets, no choice other than expresso and insufficient milk .

Overall a pleasant experience

Lovely situation and some friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately our bathroom was in poor condition and the bar food disappointingly poor but overall a pleasant experience

Amazing breakfasts and lovely hotel with a view of the harbour
Nitasha, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Another very pleasant stay. Rooms have been slightly redecorated since our last visit, and stair carpets renewed. Menu has also improved in Harry's Bar with better choices & more vegetables included with dishes. Scallops were excellent as were the burger & ham, egg & chips! Nice cooked breakfast, but continental alittle lacking still. Overall, a really nice place to stay for a night or two if you value tranquility over amenities...perfect for us. Possibly not so good for younger families though.

Master Builders Hotel weekend trip

What a wonderful find the hotel is set in a wonderful part of the New Forest Bucklers Hard. Beaulieu. Exbury gardens. Every staff member was very helpful, charming and professional. The hotel and grounds are very nice. Overlooking Beaulieu river. The food was excellent, the restaurant - Bar staff were amazing. The room was very nice. The whole experience was relaxing and we were looked after very very well. Will be returning at some point in the near future
