Amazing water villas but poor renovation general

During my stay i was hosted in 3 different accommodations in the hotel. Water villa was absolutely awesome 5 stars . But other rooms with very poor maintenance lots of things were broken. Bad towels vwry used and old totally different from the high quality of the villa. It looks like they are not renovating the instalations.. ..service was amazing and food evru good. The road to the hotel was terrible ...very very bumpy and fsr from the airport. 1 hour and 40 minutes . Drinks in the bar extremely expensive. 16 dolars a margarita...

Absolutely WONDERFUL! The perfect honeymoon spot

My husband and I split our time in Zanzibar between two places. Our first stay was a the KonoKono resort and in the over water villas. It was absolutely fabulous and honestly the nicest hotel room/villa we have ever experienced. We felt totally spoilt by the hotel and well looked after for our stay. The food was delicious! I have a severe allergy to garlic and gluten and they catered to my needs so I didn’t feel like I was missing out. The room was stunning with a gorgeous view from the balcony. The cleanliness was impeccable. The bed was huge and so comfortable too and we slept very well during our stay. The floating breakfast was so decadent and really fun. We also loved the Tanzanian food night - fish masala curry was to die for! The resort is also extremely close to The Rock Restaurant which is an incredible experience. Charles was absolutely fantastic. He is a real credit to the team at the hotel. Jackson and Rosemary took great care of us during our stay too. Thank you so much! Points to consider… The road on the way up to the hotel was extremely bumpy but it would not deter us from returning. It’s just not ideal if you are planning to do lots of trips in and out. Personally, if you are staying in the water villas I think I better system should be in place for transporting bags (like a buggy or something similar) the walk was lovely but quite long if you are carrying things.

Beautiful over water villa that looked exactly like the pictures. We truly enjoyed the villa experience. 2 improvement areas; The food. The salads lacks creativity, the choices are few. The room service meny works. After we complained we were offered to order through the room service menu instead. The sense of urgency when it comes to service. We expected this to be a luxurious experience, but it took us close to 2 hours from order to delivery of food to the villa. Incredibly slow.

Way to high bar prices. Expect to pay 40-100% extra from similar places in the area . It’s nice to have half board with free dinner but food quality was not the best. Would rather pay for better food and have normal bar prices. Would have given me much more for my money :)

Konokono was a beautiful resort. I really enjoyed the beauty of the bungalow beach villa we stayed in. It was my birthday and they welcomed me with a little decoration in the room which was so cute. The food was great, it definitely gave fine dining but the fixed menu for dinner was delicious. The staff were very nice and helpful. There are monkeys on site, which was cool. They also have someone you can book activities with at lobby. The beach is beautiful but close up to shore needs to be cleaned and or need to put a garbage near by so people don’t litter. The only thing i could say about this hotel is that it is a very quiet and peaceful resort. Not much amenities. So if you are looking for somewhere to just have peace and quiet then this is your place. There is no vibes here just a laid back getaway. Beatrice was very nice and the staff as well. I think it would be good for them to promote that this hotel is a tranquility hotel so that people are not caught off guard with the type of vibes they may be looking for during their stay. Nevertheless it’s a beautiful resort in Zanzibar.

Si può riassumere in una sola parola l’esperienza al Konokono?! PARADISO! All’arrivo ti ritrovi subito immerso nella natura e vieni ricevuto da persone di una gentilezza e dolcezza estrema. Nonostante un disguido di prenotazione con il nostro tour operator, Mohammed risolve in modo estremamente professionale la situazione, preoccupandosi per il nostro benessere e di non farci sentire a disagio. Noi abbiamo soggiornato in una delle splendide ville nella giungla: design molto raffinato e ottima pulizia/ordine. É capitato spesso, mentre ci rilassavamo nella nostra piscina privata, di avere la compagnia di scimmiette meravigliose (siamo in Africa e siamo estremamente grate di averle avute intorno a noi). La spiaggia e il mare sono stati una sorpresa continua: abbiamo avuto l’esperienza di vivere le varie fasi della luna e di conseguenza della marea. Il mare non ha nulla da invidiare ad altre zone di Zanzibar e la sabbia é semplicemente bianchissima. Riconfermo, un paradiso! Un’altra nota piú che positiva é stata la cucina: un menù a la carte con piatti curati sia nell’estetica che nel gusto. Asante sana a Beatrice, a Mohammed, a tutto lo staff del resort e ai Masai Thomas e Matteo che ci hanno fatto vivere un’esperienza indimenticabile.
