Comfortable, but overshadowed by service

Comfortable bed, large room, and the Wi-Fi and lounge area were solid for a business trip. Still, front desk Michael delivered the rudest service I’ve experienced in years, which overshadowed the positives. I’ve lodged a detailed complaint with the hotel. I’ll be cautious about booking here again unless management addresses this.

Okay visit – chaotic late check-in

Hotel is fine—clean, modern enough, good Wi-Fi and a decent lounge area. But our pre-communicated late arrival was mishandled, and Michael at the desk was rude and obstructive until Hotels.com intervened. One person’s attitude turned a simple check-in into a headache. Separate complaint submitted to management.

Nice room – flickering kitchen light

Good-sized rooms, comfortable bed, solid Wi-Fi, and a nice lobby/lounge. However, the kitchen light (tube above the sink) was flickering constantly; housekeeping came through while it was doing this and it still wasn’t fixed—impossible to miss. More importantly, front desk Michael was openly rude and dismissive. I’ve filed a separate complaint with full details; this really tainted the stay.

Decent stay – TVs didn’t work

Rooms are big and the lounge is pleasant; Wi-Fi worked well and the bed was great. But the check-in handled by Michael was shocking—rude and unhelpful. Also, one TV remote didn’t work and the bedroom TV had a software error, so neither TV functioned (I didn’t report it at the time, but they should have worked). Separate complaint sent to the hotel; this experience overshadowed an otherwise okay stay.

Good hotel – weak customer service

Nice property overall: spacious rooms, comfy beds, good lounge area and reliable Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, front desk Michael was extraordinarily rude during a late check-in and made a straightforward situation painful. One employee shouldn’t ruin an otherwise decent hotel, but he nearly did. I’ve sent a separate, detailed complaint to management and will think twice before staying here again.

Comfortable stay

The apartment was well appointed and designed. The bed was AMAZING! The kitchen had most items necessary for a week stay. The microwave-oven had directions in Spanish so it was not easy to navigate cooking. Dishwasher did not work. The phone hotel phone did not work, but the hotel's texting AI was great, easy to get attention by texting for towels, trash bags etc. They had a Nespresso coffee machine in kitchen, but did not use since they charged for the capsules. Next stay I will bring my own. I went down to lobby each morning for coffee from their wonderful machine for free. Towels were plush. Access to printer was great. Lobby is beautiful with cool music piped in. Very hip with good design. Great stay for a business trip. Saved money on dining by using kitchen and stocking fridge with food. One problem initially was that we were driving around looking for 'Rusk House' on the building. We saw Club Quarters had the address and was confused. I suggest they have some signage on bldg with both names. Also some of the staff had a snooty attittude, but most were very nice, accomodating.

Nice hotel location below average

The hotel was great. Staff attentive and amenities nice. The location is downtown Houston and the homeless situation is real. We still walked around, but people sleep on the sidewalk and walk around. There was constables available and police. We felt safe.
