We were robbed from La Quinta (Choice hotels)

If you stay in this hotel please BE VERY CAREFUL We stayed 4 days and 3 nights for a wedding. In all that time they didn't make the room one single time (its a group policy). However we were fine with that since we weren't going to stay at the hotel but to sleep. Everything was “acceptable” (leaning towards bad) the whole stay. We checked out without issues and waited a lot for our luggage. I requested the receipt for the cancellation of the security deposit and the person in the front desk told me to not worry. My taxi was already out so I didn't have a "choice". Days after that, I noticed a charge in my credit card almost equivalent to the same amount of the stay, so I thought it was a mistake since the room was already prepaid in Hotels.com. Today I called to clarify the charge, and they told me that they charged a smoking fee and sent me a graphic in pdf as evidence. I'm medically prescripted to avoid smoking and besides that, at the day & hour they report the smoke sensors activated, I was taking a shower and then went out of the hotel . Finally they told me that they can't do aything, and that I should talk with my bank. No empathy, responsibility or solution at all. I will never stay at any La Quinta never again. Look for other cases like mine, it's more common than you think in this hotel chain.

Good Location within walking Distance to WillisTower an UnionStation inmidle the Loop. 3 Days Stay - not 1 Time Housekeeping. Breakfast ist ok but there was out of Jelly, CreamyCheese and Fruitloops. If you asking for more - we dont have anymore - thats bad.

Acceptable but don't try to check in early

Hotel's stance on early check-in was not customer focused. They seemed more interested in collecting the bag check fee to keep a bag person employed, rather than catering to customers. Their process is to have a blanket ban on check-in before 2pm. I would have gladly paid a small fee to check-in earlier as this really messed up my day. Once checked in, it was fine. Room was clean except for the stained couch; bed was comfortable and air conditioning was quiet. Elevators had some issues and need attention. Hotel is in a convenient location for my work visits in Chicago. Next time I will spend more time looking at other options for a hotel in this area, but this hotel will suffice as a last resort.

Good location in Chicago, not too far from Union Station. Breakfast was ok. Aircon in room was very noisy, but room was clean and comfortable enough. Staff at front desk were having a bit a of a disagreement with each other when we were checking in which wasn’t a great look.

Disappointing

Beds were not queens they were doubles. Bedding felt damp, even my 18 year old daughter noticed. Wasn't told anything about how to pay for parking. Ended up paying each time we left instead of a flat $64. Ended up paying a total of $117. When I asked about it I was told that the person checking us in should have helped us out with parking and there was nothing they could do about it. Breakfast was not very good and was not stocked well. I was really hopeful and excited to stay here but for the money paid (plus a $150 extra deposit charge that still hasn't been credited back to my account) I left really disappointed.

I can't fully complain it was nice pretty comfortable for the most part. You have to pay for parking at the parking garage. Its cheaper going through the online version then the full hotel. Its $69/day at the front desk $64/day online. And you get the barcode on your phone insted of keeping up with the ticket.

Poor for this price, hidden fees and rude service

Wifi didn’t work throughout my stay, while property still charged their resort fee. They also charged money to store my luggage for the day upon checkout. Front desk wasn’t pleasant nor courteous but rather rude. Hotel rooms are quite dated and cleanliness is questionable

Convenient location, good value overall

Overall, the place is very good and the location is convenient to public transit to get anywhere you want in Chicago. The room was clean upon arrival, and a request for blankets for the pull out bed was brought to the room quickly. There was no daily cleaning service, but that was fine with me. A couple small issues were the feezer in the minifridge was full of ice and needed to be defrosted. The overhead light in the bathroom did not work, but the vanity light provided enough light for the room. The breakfast was pretty standard continental hotel buffet. Good enough to get the day started with some variety. There is a $18 per night fee added at the hotel, they told us it includes a goodie bag every day, but they only had the bags the first night of the three-night stay and still said they would charge the fee. It did not ever show up on my card, though, so, I guess that was resolved. One other note, there is a $5 per bag fee if you check bags before/after check-in/out. Not sure if this is the way the industry is going, but I've not been charged for bag check before.
