Not good value for your money
When I booked the Bluebay Esmeralda I was a bit nervous as the reviews are all over the place, so loved it some hated it. Here's what I found... overall the food was good better than expected. Seemed to have enough selection for everyone. Service was fantastic. Our room was clean , and housekeeping was amazing!! We were in building #4 on the 3rd floor and had a very nice view of the ocean and front pool area.Here's where the resort could improve on.there is no where to sit outside... the few chairs by the pool are reserved by towels at 6 am . I'm on vacation and not waking up at 6. Even by the bars no tables or chairs swing bar has approximately 12 chairs absolutely a great concept but more chairs could be infront on the concrete so a person can relax and have a drink. Checking in to this resort was brutal. Stand in a line up to stand in another line up. This building doesn't even have water after a long flight a person likes to have a drink . Most resorts have some type of refreshments when you arrive. The app to book the a restaurant did not work . So I had to stand in a line up of 50 people to book my restaurant. Once I was booked my experience improved as I booked all my restaurants until my departure. The Black and White bar is filthy, tables need to be washed. The front buffet restaurant was very clean and it had a good selection of food. So even though I had a decent stay, I will not return to this resort as I found it very expensive for the value.

The outside landscaping and hotel staff friendliness was exceptional.
However, the rooms and buildings are outdated & need remodeling, there were cracks in sinks and we had mold in one of our rooms.
The phones weren't working (we had to use our cell phones to call front desk) in none of our rooms.
The room keys stopped working for one of our rooms, we got locked out and had to.wait for maintenance to fix the lock.

AVOID THIS RESORT!!! Our ceiling leaked and no other rooms available. Mold everywhere in all buildings. Toilettes don’t flush well - called 4 times! Very poor water pressure. Wait time very long everywhere, reception and concierge about 1 hour, bars about 20 minutes, buffets about 15 minutes. You don’t mind this quality, go to Cuba and save $500 per person - seriously!

Overall our stay was good. The food was okay, the grounds were nice (but the lobby and some of the main building areas need to be updated and have better lighting added), and the ease of booking specialty restaurants was nice, but not having hot water in your room all week and lack of organization in the lobby for check in and questions was frustrating. If I was looking for a get away to somewhere warm again and the price was right I would stay here again.

It was a mediocre property, definitely needs updates or a rebuild soon. We did enjoy our time at the beach. Had to wake up to get beach chairs by 6:30 so thankfully I’m an early riser! Staff were kind and helpful.

First, I would like to say that the staff was incredibly gracious, helpful and hardworking. We REALLY liked the staff! They put on a wonderful New Year’s Eve dinner and event. Muchos Gracias to the staff!!!! What was frustrating was that we never had hot water (multiple phone calls, trips to the front desk), it took 2 days before we could get towel cards so we couldn’t get beach towels(they didn’t have enough cards. But plenty of towels! ). People were able to save chairs at 5 AM at the beach for the entire day. We could never get chairs at the beach. There were multiple small inconveniences that we were willing to overlook, it was the holidays, we understand but not having hot water and towels was not ok. When we called room service, the phone was answered 2 out of 9 times, over the course of 6 days. I will be requesting a partial refund as this was supposed to be a special vacation for us too. We requested a different room and was told it was not possible.

A lot of walking between beach & rooms. The golf cart shuttles were nice but not super convenient. Resort should invest in more pool chairs, if you didn’t reserve chairs at 7am, you had to sit on the concrete. Restaurant options were acceptable, the ala carte restaurants were the best!

We could tell they were still recovering from the hurricane but everything was clean. Staff was friendly and campus was nice and lots of foliage. Loved the wild life too

Le plus: l'accueil est excellente, juste dommage de ne pas l'apprécier à sa juste valeur après 2 heures 30 d'attente pour la navette qui nous y conduit.
les déjeuners, diners et souper de bonne qualité et variée nous ont agréablement surpris. les restaurants avec thème offrent de belles tables d'hôte.
Le moins: chambre a besoin d'un rafraichissement, vieux bain taché. l'air conditionné coulait mais cela a été réparé rapidement. Les tâches d'humidité dans les plafonds, besoin d'entretien.
La plage n'est pas fameuse mais il y a une lagune a 10 minutes de marches vers le nord qui vaut le déplacement.
Pour un complexe aussi vaste et achalandé, il manque de chaises pour les gens autour de la piscine. Le placement de la serviette pour réserver la chaise n'est pas adéquate, car certains volent les serviette pour obtenir une place et au lobby, le coût de la serviette est de 30$us. La solution conseillée au lobby est de la payer ou de la voler. Incroyable comme réaction. Plus de chaises éviteraient de transformer les invités en voleurs.

1. Front desk stafd doesn't speak English.
2. Missing chairs in the pool, a lot of guests reserve chairs with towels because of the small amounts available.
3. Reservation for dinner was very easy as special restaurant are small.
4. Just 2 bars on the pool are with just 1 or 2 bartender, causing 20min wait for a drink.
5. In case of rain they don't have enough shuttle to move guests to the restaurants.
6. Elevator on the apartment building barely works. On my case were broken 4 days on my 7 days stay.

Spent 18 days over Xmas at the Blue Bay. Our room (3rd Floor) was spacious with an Ocean view. Housekeeping staff were excellant. With 5 ala carte Restaurants our favorites were the Italian and Mexican. Even the buffets were really good with lots of choices for you. Huge pool area could use more chairs as you need get up at 7 and grab some. 2 Bars, one with swings which is the Social one for meeting people. Unfortunately the ocean in that area is full of Sargasso which made it a bit dirty to swim in. Hotel was trying to keep it as clean as they could, but wasnt crystal clear blue as Im used to. Place could use some updating as its getting on 20 yrs old now. All in all though it was a nice relaxing Vacay and quite enjoyable.

When we checked in our room was wrong and they weren’t willing to make it right. It’s hard to get into the restaurants because you have to make reservations days ahead. The food at the buffet is under cooked. There were two bars and the no adult pool like advertised. Very limited pool loungers so you have to be up at 7am to get one. The excursions are terribly expensive if booked through the hotel and not to mention they are under construction throughout the hotel. The whole experience was sub par and not worth the money we paid.

Le 19 décembre 2024 nous somme arrivé à l'hotel et avons du attendre près de 1h avant qu'on nous donne notre chambre. La chambre d'hotel était tellement humide qu'une odeur forte de pourriture était dans toute la pièce est meme les couloirs. La chambre avait des grosses taches de café sur les meubles, et la salle de bain avait de l'urine sur les bords, c'était horrible.
On s'est plein à la réception pour avoir une autre chambre avec des conditions acceptable et après 30min de marche nous avons trouvé notre nouvelle chambre très sale: le lit était complétement défait, il y avait des serviettes à terre et des cannettes de coca cola vide à coté du lit et dans la salle de bain. La reception nous as dit que c'était la dernière chambre libre à cet heure là.

Nous avons voullu quitte l'hotel immédiatement à cause de notre grand inconfort et dégout, mais avons était forcé d'y passer une nuit puisqu'il était déja plus de 2h du matin et que nous avions auccune autre options. Nous avons demander un remboursement le lendemain matin(20 décembre 2024). L'agente expédia nous a affirmer qu'expedia aller nous rembourser dans un délais de 7 jours. L'expérience était extrêmement misérable.
