Staff great- experience horrid.
Ok, when we first arrived check in was great staff was incredibly helpful and we were very pleased. The room however was not, the ceiling had old water stains, walls were peeling, and there was a roach on the bathroom toilet. I was disgusted, immediately left. Staff was wonderful again and worked with us but yeah, I would never stay here again.

The hotel is a little rough around the edges, the stairs had dirty carpets and there's trash in the parking lot, but at the end of the day the rooms were clean and it's in a great location. It's about a 25 minute walk through safe and scenic neighborhoods to get to Portsmouth center.I would definitely stay again

Pleasantly surprised
While this is not the Ritz, it was undergoing some continuing renovation, so parts of it were very adequate and nice looking. The room was clean and neat, the furniture was relatively up to date.. The Linens and the bed were particularly nice. I had a very comfortable night's sleep. The bathroom had a semi modern feel with good lighting and countertop space for your own toiletries. I would not hesitate to return.

Unfortunately, You get what you pay for. Hotel layout is awkward, many dated features, and no breakfast. At checkin there was a mistake and we received keys to a room that was already in use...front desk kindly fixed mistake.

The reviews in Expedia are all glowing- so it’s clearly been a bit since a new review. Decent enough. Needs a lot of work but comfy bed and hot shower so that’s really what we needed.

This hotel is under construction, but there was no work during our stay. Tom at the front desk was fantastic, very friendly and suggested Chauncey lobster pier for dinner. It is a byob waterfront lobster place and we loved it.

Comfortable stay
We stayed while hotel in renovations, but our room was nice, front staff personnel friendly and helpful. Simple breakfast every day. Common areas always clean. I felt safe there. It was comfortable and a good stay for 3 nights while we visited family in Portsmouth.
