Carpets in hallways are showing their age…stained and worn. Things smelled a bit mildew-like in our room. Clean enough bathroom, no issues there. Just old hotel.

Pretty good , except for not environmentaly friendly in the breakfast area . Everything went into garbage when most items should have gone into recycling bins Also no one wiping down tables. Also Air conditioning unit very loud!!

When we arrived the room had a GIANT spider in the window attached to the curtains and multiple stink bugs. There was dust over everything. It appeared to have been cleaned at some point but not recently. I asked for it to be cleaned the next day. We left from 10am to 330pm and no one had come by. They were only attending rooms on our floor after 4pm to clean which is too late! Nothing was offered as compensation for not cleaning the room except for a complimentary breakfast which was already included with our room purchase!

Unfortunately the tv remote would only give us 2 channels and the volume button was stuck. The air conditioning remote was so complicated we managed to work it without it but then didn’t move off a certain temperature and was so loud sleep was not too good. Bed and linens great!

When I walked into the hotel after a long drive from Vancouver, I was greeted by a very cheerful Marie. I told her that we had a long drive and my husband was a bit cranky and asked if there's a chance of checking in early. Check-in time is 4 but she found us a room and we were able to check in right away at 2:30. Our double room was comfortable and clean.

Our hotels.com reservation did not populate on the hotel’s system until after about 2 hours after our arrival. We gave up waiting & booked at the hotel. Luckily the hotel cancelled their reservation later & used our hotels.com reservation. It was a hassle. There is no number to call at hotels.com. The virtual assistant was not helpful.

Couldnt use the hotub as it was dirty with everybodies body oils. I brought it to the attention of the lady at the front desk saying thats very discusting. You should shut it down for health reasons she never did. I mentioned you should have everyone shower before entering. The pool or hotub. When you have dead skin, body oils deordarnt,& perfume that all leaves a dirty greasy oil on the water. Was not impressed

Overall happy

While I was overall happy with my stay, the hotel seems to have some issues with silverfish bugs (scattering bugs that were on the floor). I realize this is common with old buildings (vs from lack of cleanliness), but it should be addressed. I saw a couple every day and killed them. In terms of cleanliness, the key things in the room, like bathrooom and bedding seemed clean, but the walls look untouched with visible dirtiness. A quick wipe down would make a big difference. Despite the silverfish, I would stay here again.

Clean comfortable stay

Reasonable rates and a clean updated room were appreciated. Although my room was on the pool side and for an early riser it was a bit noisy since the pool doesn’t close till 10:30. Also there didn’t seem to be anyone attending to cleaning or towel removal in the pool area as the same wet towels were there from the previous night when I looked out my window this morning.

Very nice stay

Firstly, I would like to thank Euiji for the fantastic welcome at the front desk. She was very sweet. I had a poolside room with the convenience of just opening the door onto the pool deck. Very convenient for those of you who have children. I look forward to staying here again on my next visit to Castlegar
