Recommended...Excellent Lodge and hosts

We had a great time. Fraser was very welcoming and advised us on what to see and do. The bedroom was brilliant, sunset on the beach was amazing, lamb shank meal at Stumpers was excellent, and breakfast was just right.

A great find

A great find. A little out of town, but well worth it. Ots really beautiful and so peaceful. The hosts were excellebt, very welcoming and friendly and they served up a great breakfast.

This is the only place we could find for new year's eve in Hokitika and it looks like there's a reason for that. This is a B&B and you will live with the owner. We arrived at around 10pm and we were shouted at by the owners: "Do you know how late it is?" "We are entitled to kick you out!" I don't know the rules in NZ but I think 10pm should be pretty ok, especially it's new year's eve and a lot of people are still hanging around. We were supposed to find the keys ourselves, but we received ZERO prior communication from the hotel, either on how to find the keys or if we should try to arrive earlier. We enjoyed our time a lot in Hokitika but this is definitely the worst part. The hotel itself is ok, although a little bit old.

Greeted with a smile and left with a smile

Lovely experience! Look no further this is the place you want to rest up and feel the warm hospitality of Fraser & Ann. Rooms are tidy and there is a open room to hang out. Short distance from the Hokitika town and easy access to Hokitika Gorge. Breakfast is delicious (don't forget to discuss the subtleties of different Marmite with Fraser). Can whole heartedly recommend this place for everytype passenger.

Der Empfang und auch die Bewirtung zum Frühstück war sehr freundlich. Man fühlte sich willkommen und hat auch hilfreiche Tipps zu Aktivitäten und zur Umgebung bekommen. Das Zimmer war ganz toll mit einem Erkner wo man am riesigen Fenster sitzen konnte. Ich habe mich sofort super wohl gefühlt auch die Einrichtung war sehr stilvoll(meines Erachtens) Bis zum Zentrum von Hokitika sind es ca. 2,5km . Bei einem erneuten Aufenthalt würde ich hier auf jeden Fall wieder herkommen.

Lovely stay for two nights. Our room had all the facilities one could want for a B & B. The shared lounge (which we had to ourselves for the duration) included a eclectic collection of DVD’s some of which we enjoyed viewing. Breakfast each morning was great including a hot selection. Some attention could be given to improving the external appearance of the house albeit it is a challenge with the recent spell of wet weather.

Welcomed by host who was friendly and helpful. Very comfortable room & facilities. Dated, but well maintained and super clean. Lovely cotton linen. Spacious lounge area for guests was warm & comfortable. Full cooked breakfast was generous and tasty. The property was only slightly out of town, so a car useful to get there, had a nice semi rural feel and I loved the quiet. Overall excellent value.

Good accommodation in nice setting.

Woodland Glen is a good hotel in great quiet setting. The room was comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities and the owners were friendly and welcoming. A number of restaurants were within a few minutes drive. Definitely worth seeing the Glow worm Dell at night after dinner. The breakfast provided was of a high standard and delicious. We would be happy to stay here again.
