Awful, small and extremely loud.

Our room had no air conditioning and as a result needed a window open to provide some cooling. With the cars and motorcycles revving their motors all night this was terrible experience. We checked out the next morning and moved to another hotel. We requested a refund but were told no. The room was very small, less than 200 sq ft. Stay somewhere else, not relaxing and no sleep. Room had cracked bathroom counter and buckled carpet. Not even any decor.

Worse hotel in Monterey

the room was very small, hard to move around. No A/C and no screen on windows to open windows. mold on baseboards, rust on bathroom fixtures. They wouldn't work with us at all since we booked through hotels.com. They brought a fan to a room that you could barely move around in. I sat on the toilet and could do my hair since the sink was that close (not sure legal by building codes). When we voices our concerned they asked if we wanted to leave. At night there was this much space on both sides of the door (in picture). It was like they discriminated against us because we booked through Hotels.com. I love Monterey and have a long family history there so this is very disappointing,

This was listed as an historic property but didn’t realize no ac in room had a standing fan and the windows open to provide ventilation. Street noise late into the night and early morning was disruptive to sleep. Bathroom had small vanity with no room to place toiletries in the bathroom. Valet service was a struggle and got different instructions from front desk and valet on how to proceed. When leaving front desk had our room checked out already which maybe why maids tried to enter in morning while we were still there. Also they said they texted the valet to bring car after a 20 min wait went to front desk and no one had texted valet. Would not recommend even though location was great lots of shops restaurants and wharf walkable.

Hotel Monterey

Monterey Hotel is in a perfect location right near the Fisherman’s wharf, and on a Main Street. It is a very safe location. There’s two sides, the historic side and the more updated side. Unfortunately it was a full house and we were on the historic side which just could use a bit sprucing up. The room was clean and bathroom perfect, but the mattress needed to be replaced (a few years ago). We enjoyed our stay and would return here, just next time we will book in advance so that we can request the updated side.

The hotel staff were very helpful and efficient. The room was lovely and comfortable. But we were not expecting how loud the area is - lots of yelling and laughing, etc. on the street well into the night. Maybe staying on a different side of the building would be helpful.

Ok säng men otroligt lyhört störde sömnen. Läget är toppen med restauranger precis utanför dörren. Bodde i den gamla delen så kan ej uttala mignonette den nya delen och det skulle vara värt pengarna.

Great

Great location with easy free Trolley service, 2.5 blocks from Starbucks and fine dining Cibo(fabulous). Since valet parking is $30/daily, I used the wonderful trolley to get around. Staff was very welcoming and polite. The only downside, for me, was the super early morning (5:40a, 6:30a 2nd morning)loud noises…construction? housekeeping moving all kinds of furniture? I really enjoyed how close it was to everything I wanted to see.

Nice location and good service.

Overall everything with our stay went well. We were in the older side of the hotel, which is a bit dated, but not different than we expected. The room was small but clean and everything was in good working order. We were a bit concerned about parking options as we were hoping not to valet, and once we arrived the front desk provided us with nearby parking options. We parked on the street overnight (free for 90 minutes and from 6pm-9am). For the second night we parked in a lot about a block away, which was also free from 6pm-9am, and you could pay using the Park Mobile App, which made covering daytime hours conveinent and reasonable. It is in the heart of downtown which makes it an easy walk to local eateries and the wharf. Since we were there on a Tuesday, there was even a farmers market right outside in the evening.
