Generally quite impressed but ......
Overall this was a good stay, helped by the very helpful and friendly staff and the large, quite comfortable room. Oh, and the evening meal was v. nice on both evenings (if a little pricey) However .... my room (number 6) had a window that just would not close properly, which was concerning and a bit chilly. Also, the TV reception was virtually non-existant. I did ask, but was given some explanation about work being underway to do something to something on the roof.

The Chaucer hotel
Un hotel très correct avec une literie acceptable, mais l'ensemble est vieillot avec un parquet qui craque sous chaque pas. La situation est idéale à 5 minutes de la cathédrale à pieds, à l'entrée de la vieille ville.

Preiswertes Hotel kurz außerhalb der alten Stadtmauer
Das Chaucer-Hotel ist ein altes Hotel mit Charakter. Die Zimmer sind ausreichend sauber aber das Möbiliar ziemlich verbraucht. Die Lage am Rande der Stadtmitte ist ganz in Ordnung. Erwarten Sie keinen Luxus, aber für uns war die Preis-Leistung gut.

Perfect in every way
I just loved this hotel. The position could not be bettered, the staff were polite and friendly. Our room felt cosy and was very quiet. All in all a lovely experience. The breakfast wasn't fantastic but there are loads of coffee bars close by.

Chaucer Hotel september 2009
Leuk hotel aan de rand van de hoofdstraat. Uitstekende prijs-kwaliteitsverhouding. Hotel is oud maar heeft karakter. Wij ontbeten buiten het hotel wat prima te doen is. Prima parkeergelegenheid. Aardig personeel. Jammer dat de bar pas om 18.00 uur opengaat.
