Had I but known...

I booked this place last-minute compared with the rest of my trip. I had chosen another place, but when I looked at travel time between my activity and the hotel, I realized that I needed somewhere closer. So I found this place. It was pricey, but at that point, I thought it was probably the best I could get. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a hostel, and the accommodation was not a room, it was a bunk bed. It might have been comfortable for 1 adult per bed, but I am on the large side, and I am used to a King size bed. Plus getting in and out was challenging. To make matters worse, the parking was not on-site, but rather at a parking garage about 6 or so blocks away. The lady at the front desk kindly assured me that parking could be had on the street after the night life slowed down, but my husband is an "in bed by 9 p.m." type, and we had a long drive the next day. We decided to treat the experience as an adventure, and that made it a bit more palatable. However, I don't see very many college-aged or young 20-somethings being able to afford $200/night. We paid more than that. In fact, for what we paid, I usually get a nice suite with attached bathroom. The whole experience kind of left me with a bad taste for Jackson, Wyoming. Next time, I will look at the description carefully before I book.

Hot and uncomfortable bunks, confusing checkin

First of all, was super confusing to find this place because there is no sign for Cache Hostel. You are just supposed to know that you have to check in at Anvil Hotel instead (for which there also isn't great signage...). I circled around confused a few times before reading on the website that it's located in the basement of Anvil. I don't understand why they wouldn't have a sign! Then there was a long wait to check in at Anvil (and I still wasn't sure if I was in the right place). The woman at the front desk seemed annoyed and didn't explain anything like they normally do at hostels. I asked her about parking and she said to just park on the street, but there wasn't any street parking available at the time. I later learned from other Cache guests that you can use a parking lot down the street, and would have been nice if the front desk explained that. When you go in, there aren't actual rooms like a "normal" hostel - it's these open areas with ~20 bunks and no door to the "rooms." It's almost more like a capsule hotel than a hostel, but with less privacy. The ladders to the top bunks are a bit precarious and I felt anxious going up and down even though I'm pretty spry and fit for a 35 year old. I don't recommend with slippery socks. There was a front desk at the hostel, but I never saw anyone there. It seems like you have to go to the Anvil hotel for any questions. As other travelers described, it was quite hot in the bunks.

Fancy hostel experience

Hostel experience located below the Anvil Hotel. I opted for this because Jackson Hole hotels can be $500+/night! You get a bunkbed and your own shower/toilet in a separate area, as well as a locker for your belongings. It was fine for a night, but a bit awkward getting out of the top bunk without things falling out of your pockets. Bed was little dusty, but comfortable. Bathrooms clean and nice common area. Charging a resort fee for a hostel though seems a bit insulting, and if you complain about it the staff suggest that you keep driving another hour for cheaper accommodation in Victor, ID...

Great staff. Helped fix the locker code. Wear earplugs. I did that and a sleeping mask my third day and it made all the difference. There were just a couple people that disrespected quiet time so this will help you a ton. Not the property's fault. Free drip coffee, and really enjoyed the paid latte at the front desk. They have board games, chess by the front desk chill area. Clean! So many bathrooms and showers, so you'll always have that for you. The only thing is they didnt clean our bunk at all during the 3 day stay. Maybe because we woke up so late the 2nd day- but they were right there cleaning the others already and saw us leave so thats strange.

Auberge de jeunesse au centre de la ville de Jackson. Très bien placé. Lit pour 2 dans des cases individuelles fermées par un rideau. De grands casiers à code sont disponible à côté de la partie nuit et la partie salle de bain. Sanitaires individuels très propre. Pas de parking sur place. Parking gratuit pour maxi 48 heures dans un parking de la ville à environ 1km.

This was an excellent option for a budget traveler. However, the parking situation for the Cache House is frustrating, as there is no lot for guests of CH and the parking restrictions in Jackson are confusing. I found finding a place I would be allowed to park to be a stressful experience. Additionally, the signage on the outside of the building is very poor, leading it to be difficult to find the place. It is INSIDE of the Anvil Hotel.

Lovely property, but probably wouldn't stay again

This is a cool place and I really wanted to love it, but my experience was a mixed bag. Positives: --The lobby/common space in the hotel is wonderful and is a great place to hang out with a book, a cup of coffee, or your laptop --Beds in the hostel are very comfortable --Bathrooms are modern and sparkling clean Negatives: --Not having access to a kitchen was a definite downside (this isn't a traditional hostel per se, but that said, I think it's the only 'hostel' type facility I've ever stayed in that doesn't have at least basic kitchen facilities --One morning during my stay, there was a couple camped out in the common space (area with sofas, tables & chairs), sleeping on the couches with luggage spread out around them. The lights were turned off, making it so that other guests couldn't use the common space that morning (I tried but couldn't find the light switches to turn them on). I thought it was strange -- if they were registered guests, why weren't they sleeping in a bed, and if they weren't paying guests, why were they there?? I informed the front desk staff, who were completely unconcerned about it and did nothing. Even if it wasn't a security issue, it made the common space feel unwelcoming and unpleasant to have a couple of vagabonds camped out there. My takeaway was that the staff of this hotel/hostel aren't really big on enforcement of the rules, to the extent that the guest experience is diminished.

This is a great option for a no frills place to stay. The beds are comfortable, they have lockable drawers for your belongings, free regular coffee in themorning, it’s next to a public transportation stop, and the location cannot be beat. I marked it down a star for cleanliness because they could stand to vacuum around the mattresses, the floor in some of the bathroom stalls needed attention, and the sinks sometimes filled up and there wasn’t a lever to drain them.
