This is our second and probably last stay at the Portola Hotel. The first stay in 2024 was very good, so when wr decided to go on as a last minute trip, we booked this hotel despite other options avilable. Knowing it is the labor day weekend, we were aware it could be busy, but booked the last room available at close to $900 per night, tripling what we paid last time in an off season.
When we arrived, it turned out that the room was an overflow room that they surely would not use normally. It doesn’t have elevator access, it doesn’t have an exterior window as the window opens to hotel lobby, and it doesn’t have any amenity prepared inside. When we raised the concern to the hotel front desk, all they could offer in compensation was a complementary breakfast for 2, despite we were a family of 4. The breakfast was mediocre at best and saved us $40 from the offer.
Overall, despite the great location and decent amenities, we wouldn’t stay here again due to the inconsistent services.
