A modern and snug stay in central Oban.

Very central location, in a small and snug building. Room was very clean, and had cards telling us who had cleaned our room which was a lovely personal touch. The room was very modern too. Staff were very helpful and accommodating, and very friendly. The bathroom shower had a fault but it wasn’t significant. Great price given the busy tourist season, smaller yet cosy spaces. 8/10.

The Ranald is a small hotel located very close to the pier, which was convenient for us since we returned late from Mull and needed a place to stay before driving back to Cambridge. The receptionist was kind and helpful. The hotel does not have a restaurant, and the breakfast options were somewhat limited. Additionally, there is no lift, which was a bit inconvenient as I am recovering from a broken leg. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

From check in to check out I’ve no complaints, staff easy to deal with amd so friendly, nice comfortable bed and hot shower what more do you need. I also left an article of clothing so phoned up the next day and the staff posted it back to me, fantastic service. Room was spotless and the housekeeping was perfect.

Oban is a beautiful town on the water, with a variety of options for dining and shopping. The hotel is centrally located, in a safe area, the rooms are quite large and it was very quiet at night. No parking on premises but that is the case with most hotels in Oban. Plenty of car parks, though, located near the hotel.

Pros: Spacious room. Impressive water pressure in the shower. Everything in great condition. Location is central. Good breakfast. Cons: The wall is paper-thin; you can hear everything in the hallway. Staff did everything they were supposed to, but they could be more friendly.

Heather and Maryanne were lovely and most helpful. I made the mistake of opening the window (room#313). The convoluted mechanism to close the window and the lose handle made it impossible to close the window completely on that chilly night. The maintenance dept may want to look at it. That was the only negative for me. Most convenient to all transport and town. Thank you Ranald.

Funktionalität eingeschränkt

Der Wasserdruck der Dusche im 3. Obergeschoss ist ungenügend und wenn jemand anderes Wasser braucht fliesst nichts mehr. Das Licht schaltet sich automatisch an und nach circa fünf Minuten wieder ab. Leider erfasst der Sensor die Dusche nicht, weshalb man eingeseift plötzlich im dunklen steht. Die Steuerung der Heizung funktionierte nicht und es war viel zu warm eingestellt.
