Hotel Shocard is one of my favorite places to stay in New York. The rooms are small but efficient, and the bathrooms are always clean, the tiled design, gold mirrors, and metal doors give it that cool New York feel.
The location is everything, especially if you’re in town for theatre. It’s also incredibly convenient for trains and easy access to Midtown, Chelsea, the High Line, and the Meatpacking District.
Garvey's Irish Pub right next door is a great little piece of Irish New York, they are friendly and have entertainment on some nights.
It’s a boutique spot, so you’ll never be waiting forever for an elevator or dealing with big hotel crowds.
