Stayed here on business. Bathrooms seem to have been designed by monkeys.
The bathrooms are some sort of prebuilt pod in the corner of the room. If I'm not going to get a bath, a decent shower is a must, especally when you are paying £160!!!
They are poor for many reasons:
- Step up into bathroom, really not great in the dark, especially for older people. Seems very stupid.
- Shower is just a hand held head, no rain option. It's like being dribbled on from a height, poor pressure and you have to constantly move around to stay wet.
- Temp is luke warm at best.
- Controls on the shower are unmarked, so first time you use, you aren't sure which is on and which is temp, or which way to turn. When you have to lean under the water, that's annoying.
- door to the bathroom has no turning handle, just a pull, so you have pull it open and then push it shut and you can't do that quietly. Would be really annoying if you were sharing the room, or must be able to be heard by other rooms.
- no lock on the door. Fine when you're alone, but when sharing, people want a lock. Pretty basic.
TV is pretty small and pillows were poor quality and lumpy.
Hotel is pretty souless too, with very little staff interaction or service offered. No one greets you for breakfast, and breakfast choice is average (no fresh fruit, yoghurt).
Seems that hotels have to do very little these days to feel justified to charge what they do in an expensive location like Cambridge.
