typical mom/pop motel. Generally clean, somewhat updated - bed squeaked.

8/10 Very good

The free, freshly-prepared breakfast is at the attached restaurant at the motel, and is excellent. Many locals came in for regular paid meals as well. The staff was very pleasant in all the different positions - check-in, hospitality, restaurant, etc. The building is very well-constructed, and much quieter than most modern motels. This is not by any measure a luxury motel, but it is very good for its class. I will agree with earlier reviews that the rooms are not well lighted, however. Brighter LED bulbs and a ceiling lamp would really help. We would stay here again if we come back to the area.

Definitely an older property. Facilities and amenities were “tired”. Staff was friendly.

Good for a quick stopover
This room met its purpose as a quick stop between Santa Fe and Denver, allowing us to enjoy a brief stop at the Great Sand Dunes NP. Nothing was exceptional but nothing was terrible. It is a rather old but remodeled property, but it definitely shows its age. I would have a appreciated in-room coffee as I'm and early riser. I will give a shout out to the tasty free breakfast in the adjacent restaurant. It was freshly cooked and much better than a typical buffet found in most economy hotels.

Overrated, Overrated.....
I booked based on the rating. I believe rating was inflated by the diner breakfast. The breakfast was better than most. I paid an additional $3.25 for our upgrades. The mattresses were terrible and the pillows were a joke. The towels should be burned. Spend another $25 and stay somewhere else.

So So
The condition of the main room was excellent accept I could hear the people in the next room. The bathroom was poor. The toliet clogged and the shower was weak and had very minimal hot water.

Nice room with good breakfast
Clean and adequate room in a safe area. The room came with a voucher for breakfast at a next door restaurant which was a good value.

The breakfast was amazing and fresh! The room wasn’t anything fancy, the bed was okay. The room and bathroom could be updated. Good for a quick stay to go to the Dunes!

8/10 Very good

Nice, quiet motel that offers convenient access to Great Sand Dunes. Offers free and good quality breakfast (5 options) from adjoining restaurant. Hotel is a bit old and bedspreads are dark burgundy, a fact that makes the rooms seem a bit dreary. Staff is friendly and helpful.

8/10 Very good

Traveling on a 2-3 week motorcycle adventure I just needed a clean, quiet & comfortable place to lay my head, one which wouldn’t break the bank. Online reservations are always somewhat of a shot in the dark, but the Dunes Inn seemed like it would fit the bill. Check-in was quick (an actual KEY, not card - interesting), parking immediate and in mere minutes I was unloaded and relaxing in my nice room. I did, however, run into a few moments of confusion with amenities. For one, the wall light switch appeared to do nothing, but I eventually found WHICH wall light it was meant for, one that ALSO had a switch on it (which was OFF). Then I addressed the refrigerator, the door was wide open, but not running. After a moments research, I found both the fridge and microwave were not plugged in to a receptacle (not certain why) so doing so solved that problem. Next morning, I took the nifty coupon I’d been given at check-in and went looking for the restaurant where I would be receiving a free breakfast. Both myself and another patron walked right past it – it was in essence part of the same building as the hotel office – but eventually turned back and found it. I have to admit, I didn’t expect much, but was nicely surprised at the tastiness of the breakfast I received. I feel certain if I ever pass through Alamosa again I will utilize the Dunes Inn as my home away from home.
