Not a Resort
There was no-one around at Check-in and check-out and any other time in-between. The pool was green and spa not working and main building locked and empty. Our room keys were left in a basket at the front door. There was wi-fi but no password and therefore no wi-fi. The published numbers did not answer. The rooms seemed clean enough but it was a ghost town! I am surprised that this was still listed on hotels.com!

Property is nice.Good layout nestled in the woods. Well groomed grounds. Gas fire place was functional. Stove and oven did not work. The indoor swimming pool was not functional. The liner was disgusting, ends were folded up and attached with tape, it was coming apart. Sauna was non functional. The toilet kept flooding and did not drain. Poop was floating and water level rising to overflow. The king sized bed was like a gutter buckling in the middle. The room however was clean. There is wifi but we never got the code. We called the front desk to inquire about the access code. No answer. It 10 pm at this time as we just returned from supper with some friends. When we went to the front desk to inquire at 10 pm, the clerk had left for the evening. Turns out she had forgotten to give us a slip of paper with those instructions. May in the future this information can be placed in the room near the telephone. Many envelopes of people still to check in were left in a basket. Keys and instructions left in public hands. No respect for Individual privacy. Talk about identity theft! We compared notes with other visitors who were also disgruntled. Breakfast was simple. One type of cereal, milk, coffee, tea, hot water, bananas, oranges, apples, mini croissants, mini buns. It was the same person running between the front desk and manning the breakfast routine. She was a wonderful person doing a great job. I would stay there again if they tidied up. Nice grounds

This property was not what was expected from on lone pictures. It is much in need of general upkeep. The room itself was clean but the carpet was stained and gave the appearance that it wasn't clean. Some of the decor was interesting and seemed updated but overall in need of much attention! Wouldn't have been so bad but just the general lack of basic maintenance such as landscaping (which isn’t costly and carpet cleaning) would have made it more palatable. It is a good area and close to many things.

One of the reasons we book a hotel is breakfast. If it supplies breakfast, then we're good for the day to see the sites. I paid for a FULL breakfast and was told there wasn't any. It doesn't seem like much to some but I would not have booked there. The staff was very nice and we were told it would be addressed but have heard nothing yet.

Keep looking
Bed was comfortable. Cool ski jumper graphic on wall, but everything else needs updating, cleaning or repair. Bath exhaust fan inop, light over shower out, outlets won't hold plugs, carpet needed replacing 5 years ago, wallpaper peeling. No coffee to go w coffee maker.

We have been traveling to Stowe VT. in August for many years for an annual event hosted locally. We have stayed at this property over the years and have seen a general decline, a renovation and, unfortunately, another general decline. We were told by staff that they are due for a significant renovation in hopes to compete in a more upscale market. It would not take a major renovation but rather general renovations/repairs to this property to make it competitive in the average traveler market segment. A major costly renovation to compete with nearby upscale properties, in my experience, will not produce an acceptable ROI. A good cleaning and general cosmetic repair/renovation to rooms and common areas along with repair/renovation of pools etc. would make a huge difference. The outdoor pool was closed (green) and indoor pool was not clean and in very poor condition. I could not find an operating ice machine and no staff on site after 4pm. The hospitality industry in Stowe is competitive and many properties, not unlike this property, continue to struggle in the shadow of Spruce Peak. It is my opinion that with a bit of work and proper management, this property has the potential to find it's market segment and be successful. On a positive note, the few times we were able to communicate with what appears to be very limited staff, they were polite and helpful. We will continue to travel to Stowe and watch with anticipation to see what the future is for Mountain Road.

The property boasts newly renovated rooms and pictures of a pool. Our rooms were old, one smelled horribly of chlorine from the indoor pool which was unusable (lining was duck taped on) and the outdoor pool was also unusable although this was not mentioned anywhere. It looks like they are updating some of the property but I was very unhappy with our rooms and that we weren't informed the pool wasn't available. We had to pay $ to go to the pool across the street. Overall pretty disappointed with our stay here.

Nothing to like about the property. As soon as i pulled in I noticed no other cars. The outdoor pool was black with frogs and tadpoles. The indoor pool liner had a big tear being held by tape. No staff onsite. Inner door was locked. Keys with envelopes and names on them in a basket. My reservation wasn't one of the envelopes. So basically i was going to be left out of hotel. Expedia overbooked it seems. Took over an hour for Expedia to relocate my family.

Unfortunately when I was on my way to the location hotel.com called me to tell me the hotel was overbooked and I could not stay there. I spent over 2 hours trying to find alternative location to stay and had to stay 45 minutes from the original destination. Even worse is that the hotel would not answer the phone when I tried to call. Family trip ruined by this hotel and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.Cleanliness, Comfort and Condition could not be determined.

No communication.
I purchased our weekend back in February. Got an email the night before check in that the pool wasn’t available. And few other ammenities. I wasn’t happy about that as we were there for a lacrosse tournament. I would have liked notice. But wasn’t given any notice. Until the night before. A bummer for a few kids. I’m sure it’s a nice place. But communication would have been good as I had emailed them right away and heard nothing back. Unfortunate.

Reservations about the Reservation Process
I arrived, with a prepaid and confirmed reservation, at approximately 7:40 pm on Saturday July 6th 2019, only to find the lobby door locked and no staff available. When I phoned the number that was posted on the Hotels.com site, I received a recorded message saying that the phone wasn’t set up to receive calls. When I called the number on the resort’s website, I didn’t get an answer at all. After waiting for an hour and a half, without any sort of response, I was fortunate enough to book a room in another motel in Stowe. Frustrating isn’t a kind enough description! The next day I returned and spoke with a very friendly and helpful member of the housekeeping staff(?) who not only provided me with the manager’s phone number, but also helped me with contacting Hotels.com and, as a result, I spoke with a service representative, who processed my full refund and confirmed it with an email. I will be checking for it when I receive this month’s banking statement. Two things bothered me. The lack of any staff member present upon check-in with the doors locked ( is this legal?) and the fact that my reservation confirmation was on file at the resort but apparently meant noting at all. It was like an episode out of Seinfeld!

we've stayed here in the past and loved it - it's nothing fancy, but a decent place to sleep and close to everything. upon arrival this time, everything was different - most notably that the pool was out of order. they lied and said it was going to go under renovation the next monday, but we were still there that day and there were no maintenance workers on site at all. the place has great bones, and with upkeep and an available staff (just try finding someone on site to ask for something or complain or even check in...) it could be a worthwhile place to stay, but not how things are currently managed.

The opposite of “vacation”
This resort was a complete let down after staying here the last two years, and recommending it to 10 other travelers from Boston. No one answered the phone for 6 straight days. No one was at reception when i went to check in at 7:45pm, and website clearly said check-in is until 9pm. They taped my room key to the front door. A manager never appeared in 4 nights of staying there. The outdoor pool was green and full of leaves, with no notification that it would be closed during our stay - and it’s the main reason 10 rooms were booking there for that weekend. And the normal breakfast was unavailable for the weekend. We also had 2 rooms wind up being overbooked and no one was at the front desk to fix the problem. The room next to mine also had no air conditioning and no cold water. And i was given no discount or attempt to make up for the terrible quality of my 4 night stay.
