Galle's fort is amazing, we loved the little streets and the colonial architecture, the many restaurants and cafes and enjoyed the walk along the massive dutch fortifications and view over the sea is awesome. There is little else outside the fort.

Good
The Galle Fort brings you back to how things were in the early 20th century. However, if you're looking for authentic Sri Lankan food, avoid the Galle Fort area. The food is catered for Westerners, so its pretty bland.

I had the best dining experience in Galle. Beautiful architecture and modern luxury. I also feel very safe in general in Galle Fort.

Great tidy safe area inside the Galle fort peninsula, not so tidy outside the fort area, but still a great area

The hotel is secluded so no noise. It is a short walk along the main road to Galle Fort. The entrance to the hotel is a bit difficult to find. You go though the municipal council building. This road is rather scruffy.

Try and notice the wonderful street architecture rather than the contents of the shops!
"Yara Galle Fort is a lovely boutique hotel in a good position for walking around the town. The bed was comfortable and it was lovely to have a fridge and toiletries provided. The Sri Lankan breakfast was the best we have had here and the staff were very helpful. "
"The website really doesn’t do the hotel justice - we would have stayed longer had we known how amazing it is. The whole experience from start to finish was stunning - we loved this hotel."
"Breakfast good, rooms clean and quiet, good access to the fort- place reminds me of a guesthouse in Asia ! Which for us is great
Not trying to upsell and staff advice solid
I would come back- value for money "
"Great place to stay very close to the lighthouse. Love the small, intimate, boutique-style feel to it. Make sure to have the egg hoppers for breakfast! Delicious!"
"The place was beautiful design. Thats what I want in hotels. The staff were lovely. Amaan, Viraj and Nethmi were wonderful. This place is an oasis off the busy city street down to the Fort. If you want to stay away from the touristy Fort area on the coast, with a private beach, this place is for you. The only feedback I have for them is be clear about restaurant times. It said on menu in room 6p. I went down 6.15 and was told my meal would take 1 to 1.5 hours. This won't work for families with children. It is a beautiful new hotel but if they want to be one of the best, this is important to be organised & have good communication. "
"The Bartizan's rooms were spacious and clean. The bathroom was gorgeous. The breakfast was generous, and we were given a packed breakfast on the day we left early. The staff were very attentive. It is located on the coast and walkable to loads of shops and restaurants. It was our favourite hotel in the two weeks we spent in Sri Lanka. "
"A wonderful 3 night stay in the family suite with two double beds. Service from all the hotel staff was wonderful from the moment we arrived, and they went above and beyond from giving us a takeaway breakfast on our last day when we left early, as well as helping with our hired tuktuk! Hotel is further out of Galle Fort (about a 10min tuktuk drive/25 min walk), but setting of buildings onsite is lovely, centred around the main pool and communal outside area. There is a mosque nearby so you can hear the call to prayer, but didn't disturb us."
