You can catch an event at Lane Stadium, located 0.6 mi (1 km) from central Blacksburg. If you think Lane Stadium is cool, you might also like Cassell Coliseum and Women’s Softball Field, both located nearby.
Cheer on the Hokies at Lane Stadium, then explore the charming downtown's local shops and eateries. Hike the Cascades Trail to a stunning 66-foot waterfall or tour Virginia Tech's beautiful campus.
We were there during Winter break so it was a bit unusual, no students anywhere. But seeing sleepy Blacksburg, frozen and empty, was a real treat. No crowds. No wait at restaurants. Loved it.

Good
Blacksburg seems like a cool small-ish town but is easily overwhelmed by surges of visitors. When busy, parking and traffic are horrendous. The lack of attention to detail by a community apparently dominated by engineers is puzzling.

Many restaurants within walking distance and easy to navigate via car. The area was clean and well lit at night.

It is very convenient as it is only a few minutes drive to the university but there are not many options to eat. If you want to have a good dinner you have to drive to Christiansburg.

I am a VT alumni (class of 2006) and I absolutely love Blacksburg. I highly recommend it to anyone considering visiting!
"Very budget friendly hotel. The bed was so comfortable. The walls were freshly painted and they do a great job of keeping everything clean. The pool was very nice! You can see they are being proactive making updates inside and out. I will definitely stay there again while traveling. "

"This is the second time we have stayed for an overnight here in this beautiful hotel… It is only five minutes off of Highway 81 and in a beautiful college town. It is a little over two years old and we decided to stop here again and push through our drive just overnight here, amazing restaurant too on the very top floor, beautiful views …"
"This was a beautiful, elegant place and a welcome change to the chain hotels. The staff were real hospitality professionals. The menu (while small) was amazing in quality and flavor. And the location was great with a wonderful little downtown area full of shopping and dining all around."
