5⭐ for a Great Hotel but 1⭐ for customer service
I had a very good experience staying at the DogHouse Hotel in Columbus. The hotel itself is fantastic. The rooms are comfortable, the ambiance is unique, and it’s a perfect place if you’re traveling with a dog. Everything was clean and well thought out.
The only downside was the customer service. I checked in around 9:30 at night and the desk clerk seemed more focused on chatting with a friend or guest sitting at the bar than acknowledging me. It didn’t slow down the check-in process, but it felt a bit disrespectful to have someone casually carry on a conversation while helping a customer.
The next morning, I was also yelled at by the receptionist for having my dog “too close” to the breakfast buffet. My dog was simply standing behind me, outside the dining area, while I made a plate of food.
Despite those two interactions, I still had a great stay. The hotel itself is excellent and I would definitely come back. I just hope the staff training catches up to the quality of the hotel.
