Best location in old town!!!

Amazing place! Even better than the pics! Loved it! Already planning to return soon. Great location. Walking distance to everywhere in old town…short ride to other places in the city. Very clean and comfortable. AC worked great! This is the best spot. Period.

No elevator and the stairs up to apartment 9 rooftop are a definite consideration and should be clearly spelled out on all booking platforms. They are very steep and narrow and some may not be able to navigate 128 un-air conditioned steps each time you head out of the Apartment. Being on vacation having to deal with this, especially lugging 3 40lb suitcases up and down was a serious negative and would’ve selected differently if a picture of these steps was included in the listing. Other than that it was clean, views nice and what you would expect an Apartment in Old San Juan to be. Loved the old world vibe.

Charming Stay in the Heart of Old San Juan — Perfe

We spent our final night in Puerto Rico in Old San Juan and booked through Old San Juan Rentals. The apartment was full of charm—located on Calle Fortaleza just behind the governor’s mansion, with a strong police presence and gated access that made us feel very safe. The balconies overlooked the street below, where we enjoyed live music and even watched the ceremonial guard changes. There’s no question: the location is everything. 🌆 Location Notes: We followed the rental company’s suggestion and parked at the Puntilla lot, which was just a short, scenic walk to the apartment. Parking was only $3/day, but a heads-up: you can’t get into the lot until 3:00 PM. A line of cars was already forming when we arrived right at 3, which is also when they give out check-in instructions. 🏡 Apartment Pros: • Beautiful Old San Juan architecture with tons of character • Walkable to everything—restaurants, forts, shops, and Anita’s Gelato (a must-visit!) • Balconies galore with great people-watching • AC units in the bedroom (a bit loud, but functional enough for one night) ⚠️ Things to Know (Not Dealbreakers, But Good to Be Aware): • The kitchen is very basic. No colander, baking sheet, or dish towels. The oven exists, but we couldn’t find anything to cook with. • No sheets on one of the beds when we arrived (we made it work). • The water never got warm—not even lukewarm. Likely due to the older infrastructure, but definitely something to factor in. • Lighting was dim throughout,

Property was in a very central location of shops, restaurants and bars, which made it excellent for enjoying the city. Property was very comfortable and well maintained and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good place to stay during their stay in Old Town, San Juan.

The property was as listed. However the shower was awful. There was low water pressure and the faucet kept coming off. It was also extremely loud - one night until 3:30 am. Noise is not the property’s fault but there are no windows, just wooden slats so nothing keeps out the party noise and car noise.

If you enjoy the nostalgia of being in Old San Juan, surrounded by rich culture and landmarks, then Calle La Fortaleza is an ideal choice. It is conveniently located near all the restaurants, bars and landmarks. If you don’t plan to spend much time in your room, it serves well as a place to rest after a day of touring—perfect for showering, enjoying a drink, watching TV, and getting some sleep. However, if you plan to spend a lot of time indoors, be aware that this isn’t a traditional hotel; you won't find many amenities here, and the accommodations are somewhat rustic. While the towels and washcloths are clean, they are old and have bleach stains. The furniture isn’t comfortable—though the room claims to accommodate three people, the pull-out couch is very old and hard. You’ll likely get a good night’s sleep only if you’re under the influence. Additionally, the couch is faded and has some stains. The dining room chairs have unattached seats, making it necessary to position them correctly before sitting down; I learned this the hard way when I sat down and the seat detached, causing me to land on the floor. On the positive side, the place was very clean. Be sure to bring your own beach towels and toiletries. The owner mentioned that you can provide a list of additional items you may need, but we didn’t do that, so I’m unsure if there are costs involved with those items. My cousin and I did enjoy our stay; the house is charming and centrally located to all.

My room had a lot cockroaches especially inside the couch and under the sink. I’ve called the front desk and they ingnored me, all of us 4 people had to sleep in same bed due were not able to sleep in the sofa bed.
