No hot water

you have to consider the following issues before choosing this hotel. 1. check in: if you will arrive after 6pm, it will be inconvenient to check in. they will put the key inside the hotel and you may not be able to find someone to open the door. they use physical key and only provide one key. 2. noise: the room is clean and large but it is a very historic building so you will hear every step from the upper floor. 3. water pressure: as mentioned, it is a very old building, the water pressure is insufficient. Especially, there were no hot water once when I was taking shower. there was no staff in the hotel and they only provided me a whatsapp to contact them. (they get off work at 6) I whatsapp them immediately but I didn't receive any response even I checked out. 4. facility: some light bulbs were out of order and no refrigerator

Prachtig hotel en voortreffelijke ontvangst op een mooie locatie in de stad. Enige probleem was de gehorigheid want de bovenburen waren bijna letterlijk te verstaan en dat wil je niet. Anders had ik een absolute topwaardering gegeven.

We had a good time and the building is effectively spectacular. It feels a bit like an Airbnb, which is not bad per se. But a few touches in the bathroom, like a nice bathtub soap or salts, or a welcome drink would have made all the difference. I sent two messages when I booked to ask for info about parking and they never replied. We were offered breakfast without any explanation (other than the extra cost) and I ended up not being able to eat much because of my diet. When we checked in it was like "yeah you can have a drink around here at the bar but I'm leaving as soon as the last guests arrive so..." I don't know. I know Dutch standards are not really high compared to the rest of Europe but it felt underwhelming.

I could not sleep in the room the hotel gave me as the church clock right outside my room chimed every 15 mins very loudly, that is 36 times per night, allowing no-one ever to actually get to sleep or rest. I was exhausted. There was no phone in the room. I had to dress again and go down three flights of stairs to speak to the receptionist who told me to wear earplugs. Even wearing industrial strength ear plugs it was impossible to even rest slightly. I climbed down the three flights of stairs again and asked for a room downstairs or at the back of the property to swap me to, however they had none available to swap me to. The owner asked me to book into an alternative hotel and offered a full refund straight away. This is obviously a recurring problem. So I booked into another hotel, climbed up and down the three flights again with my bags and carried them across the city to an alternative hotel. There was three weeks of no action by the owner who promised to contact Expedia to facilitate the refund. Their communication with me has been very poor and still no refund. I am most frustrated by the lack of attention to this matter and my having to come up with all the answers to the problems with this hotel management. The money should have been paid directly back to me 3 weeks ago. They could have actioned it at reception. Do not stay at this hotel as they will rip you off as they have done to me.

Very difficult property to get to if you are not familiar with the roadways. Parking is exorbitant. We did self check in as we arrived late and it was very efficient. Our room was on the fourth floor. There is no elevator, which is not a problem however the multiple staircases were winding and very narrow and quite treacherous. We couldn’t take our bags up. We had to put a few items in small bags/backpack and take them. No bottled water - I’m sure it was tap water in a pitcher. The room itself was quite unique and nicely decorated, however it was very dark, even with the lights on. It was very noisy with street noise, constant bells ringing from the church and on the hour. The two women at reception were lovely and did offer to move us to a lower floor but we were only there two nights and didn’t want to move our things. All in all a disappointing stay.
