Wonderful stay. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We loved the charm of the hotel. Located right in town with quaint shops. The walk path along the Gynack Burn was very relaxing and informative. Great to stay in the Highlands if Scotland.

8/10 Very good

The view from our room was pleasant. The lift only went up to the second floor so we had to carry heavy suitcase up another flight of stairs to the 3rd floor.

8/10 Very good

We liked our stay here and the folks working the front desk and breakfast were pleasant. There wasn’t any thing to do in the evening but go to the bar. The place is old and interesting. We slept great and there’s some great hiking right behind the hotel.

6/10 Good

This hotel has a lot of potential. We were raced through our evening meal with hardly a gap between courses. The main meal was venison casserole which was delicious but it was served with overcooked frozen brussel sprouts and frozen peas and sweetcorn mixed which lowered the quality of the meal. The rest of the meal was ok. Some of the staff in the dining room were less than communicative. I love the hotels ambience and it could be excellent.

Lovely hiking, sheep dog farm, & a trip to L.Ness

The staff were lovely- even helping us out with boxed breakfasts which were made available more than half an hour before the kitchen opened for the morning we had an early start. One of our 3 booked rooms had a problem, but that couple was upgraded to a better room and once again, the staff were very accomodating

4/10 Fair

Service at reception was excellent. Misunderstanding with booking was rectified with no problem. Dining room was disorganized. Meals were cold. Poor choice. Staff spent more time in kitchen. Didn't seem anyone was in charge. Went out second night to local hotel for meal and was exceptional. Hotel was busy with 3 coaches the second night. Noise from other residents in next room was unexcusable as between 10pm-12pm. On a recuperation break and just wanted peace and relaxation.

Pleasant old Highland pile with great rooms and an excellent dining room only drawback was that there was no elevator.
John, 1-night trip

I have stayed here twice in the last two months. The newer rooms over the ballroom are smaller and thinner walls and noisier. Luckily we were able to move rooms for the last two nights. Breakfast is ok, but needs more options.

Friendly staff. Tired environment

Staff were very friendly and efficient in all areas. However the hotel had overall a tired feel and decor. The room had a broken mirror and the plug in the bath was blocked. The room needs upgrading. These were reported.

6/10 Good

I had booked a superior room, the room I was allocated certainly wasn't suprerior. There was no towels, the toilet hadn't been cleaned properly and the light in the bathroom flickered constantly, the switch was broken so could not be turned off. I reported these issues to reception, they were quick to bring the towels and clean the toilet, but there was nobody to repair the light. The hotel could do with a bit TLC.
Rod, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

Would stay again

Staff were lovely - service staff at breakfast were top class and an asset to the hotel. Room was great - bathroom modern, room spacious and beds comfortable. Would stay again.
Julie, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Basic hotel.

Hotel fixtures and fittings overall we're dated. Carpet after the first floor are thread bare and grubby. Lift very slow. Room clean with tea and coffee making facilities and TV. Hand and bath towel each but not bath sheet size. Food mediocre. Good choice at breakfast but on the cold side. Disappointed with the bar as there was no cucumber or lemon for my gin. I supplied my own 😜
Jillian, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

2 coach parties there both nights couldnt book dinner and very busy at breakfast
STANLEY, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Old school stately charm, the staff make an effort to provide a luxurious experience in this historically grand hotel. Great to have a bathtub, bathrooms have been renovated. Treats and coffee/tea provided in the room. Friendly and cozy pub for visitors and locals with full menu available. Grand, formal dining room and halls for guests. Typical Scottish decor, plaid carpets with random sections of scenic wallpaper amid beautiful old woodworking. Apparently Queen Victoria stayed here while in Kingussie! We loved our stay and the small town is gorgeous to walk.
