We spent three nights at the Baan Malai. The hotel was clean and comfortable and location is safe, just a little out of the action -- a short walk -- so the 3 rating isn't really a negative rating. My overall ratings are based on consideration of price and type of lodging, not comparing it to a high end hotel. The hotel provided a very light self-serve breakfast of bread/toast, jam, fruit, coffee or tea which was nice to get us out the door in the morning. The staff was very helpful. We had a scheduled tour that another hotel guest boarded in error -- the operator thought it was my wife and I and took off on the tour. The staff called the tour folks and straightened out the mixup so that we made a connection to the tour, albeit late. The hotel is not on a main road so there is little traffic, but it is only a short walk to things. On the day of our departure, the owner hopped on his scooter and fetched us a tuk tuk to get us to the bus station. So we had very good experience with staff. The staff had limited English, but that was no impediment to service.
