I booked and stayed one night, checking out the next morning. Lucas was great through that experience. I ended up needing to stay in Townsville for another night and booked again without hesitation. Again, Lucas was fantastic. Also, based on what i saw of other places online, this provides real value for money. The location just off the Strand is perfect. I highly recommend you book without hesitation.

Loved our stay. Had a twin room so could visit my dad before hospital in the morning and it was super comfortable, great having a mini fridge, kettle and microwave in the room plus full sized plates and metal cutlery. Shower had ample hot water.

Excellent location

Virtually on The Strand, just past the amazing Bayan trees. Spacious room, good shower, with extra touches : crockery and cutlery, and a microwave oven. Our room was up some steep stairs, but there are other, less precipitous rooms too.

Attractive historic property. Very clean large rooms with all you need. Staff very helpful, friendly and polite. Quiet neighbourhood, few minutes walk to The Strand or bus to take you to ferry terminal. Easy 10 min walk to supermarket, cafes etc in one direction. Or 20 min in other for same. Most other hotels along Strand appear to have bars and restaurants. For me this just creates more noise and people so if you prefer a more calm stay Yongala would be better choice.

Nice big room and bathroom. Old building was lovely and in a great position near the beach. Check in was a breeze and we were made to feel welcome. The only negative was there was only soap supplied and no shampoo/ conditioner or tissues in the room. Not sure if they should have been. If they were just missing I'm sure they would have been given to us if we had asked. There was hand pump wash in the bathroom which was nice instead of having to use a bar of soap.

Our online booking was overlooked. After a 4 hour drive, we were very disappointed to be downgraded on arrival from an executive family room to a standard room. The lodge manager gave us excuses and blame instead of taking accountability for their mistake! We were charged for the executive room price on arrival. The Air Con unit was disgusting! Filters hadn't been cleaned for at least 12 months! The inside of the AC unit was completely blackened and mouldy. It obviously hadn't been serviced for over 12 months, so despite the hot weather, we didn't use it at all due to health risk. The walls in our room were filthy! We lodged a complaint the next morning and were given another standard family room with a clean Air Con unit but offered no discount! The property and rooms are very dated and basic. No stove or oven in the room, portable electric element for cooking. Located very close to The Strand Waterfront, and Supermarket. This was our first time visiting Townsville! We don't recommend staying here and we definitely won't be staying again!
