A lovely setting, great views out to sea including Tobin Hoods Bay.

We’ve been on a number of occasions and is always a great place to visit. The views of the bay are fantastic and the staff are all super-friendly!

Lovely comfortable room upgrade. Hotel in middle of major renovations but staff managed it extremely well. Love this place. It’s reminiscent of manderley!

Spring getaway
Only faults of the room are stained carpet, cracked windowsil & poor water pressure and heat in bathroom. Corridors in need of renovation and quite a few public rooms inaccessible due to work being done (it will be lovely when its done) The lodges look exciting, would love to stay in one. Evening meal and breakfast very nice

Class on the clifftops
We had a brilliant weekend. The staff were first class. The hotel upgraded our room free of charge when they heard it was our ruby wedding. The views from our room were nothing short of spectacular. Although the hotel is a little ‘tired’ in places it did not detract anything from the weekend. The hotel has character and class. It gives the impression of being remote, but it is tucked away on the top of the cliffs close to the main Whitby to Scarborough road. Food was very good and the bar had a great ambience. Highly recommend.

Wrong Room - not a great visit
I booked a room with a bay view and a king bed - when we checked in we got a room with a (less than) partial bay view and a double bed. I paid £150 for the room and it was disappointing. The room we got was £30 lower. The food was fresh and appreciate the hospitality.

Just here for one night. The room is fine, if a little cramped. Very clean, with a hospitality tray and shampoo, soap, and shower gel in the bathroom. Have stayed here for many years but will be interested to see if/how it changes with new owners.

For a lodge in an old national park, this was an amazing property with awesome views The staff was friendly, helpful and the food was delicious. So worth the drive.

Disappointing stay at Raven hall.
Beautiful building undergoing renovation which we were unaware of. So peaceful couple of days ruined by the noise. Bathroom clean and appears new. Appears freshly decorated . But carpets and pelmets very worn at present. We had booked larger room but bed and pillows also uncomfortable. Also dogs had been allowed to stay in main hotel building. Food for evening meal was lovely, breakfast freshly cooked but poached eggs underdone. The hotel no longer has swimming pool which is shame. It has also had a name change. Focus seems to be shifting to promoting wedding venue, which it is a stunning location.

Under refurbishment but we were not informed prior to our visit. Lots of areas being painted. Corridors very shabby
Janice, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

On arriving we found that we could not drive down to the hotel front door to drop off bags as the drive is cordoned off, as it was last time we visited. We had to park approximately 80 yards away and carry our bags in the rain. When we arrived at reception we were told that the lift was not accessible and our room was 2 floors up. Reception offered to carry the cases to the room, but this still meant that we had to go up and down 2 flights of stairs each time we left the room. I am awaiting a hip operation so this was not very good. The restaurant with panoramic sea views, where we like to dine and have breakfast has now been moved to the other side of the hotel, looking down the drive, and no longer a sea view. The bench seating in the new restaurant was not very comfortable at all. We could not get any programmes on the tv in the bedroom. The staff as always were very friendly and obliging. The food was good. The room was clean and tidy. It was a bedroom that has been recently refurbished with sea views. We have stayed at this hotel many times, as we enjoy the panoramic views from the restaurant/bar, but as I have previously said, this has now been changed. Will we book the hotel again in the future is doubtful.

The hotel had an amazing view! I could just sit in front of the window and look outside for the entire day. Breakfast was good as well. The dinner was a bit pricey Nice staff, clean room, easy parking, would definitely recommend it!

A traditional hotel with high standards
This is a very traditonal hotel in the best sense of that word. The rooms are spacious and we had one with a great view towards Robin Hoods Bay. We had dinner and breakfast and both were very good.
