I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent stay at Canal House in Georgetown. I checked in on Wednesday evening and checked out on Friday, and unfortunately, my experience fell well below expectations for a property positioned at a premium level.
Upon check-in, the front desk agent explained the hotel amenities to me and specifically stated that breakfast was included with my stay. However, the following morning at breakfast, I was approached by a waiter who asked whether I had a coupon or voucher. I explained that I did not, as I am a Bonvoy member and was told at check-in that breakfast was included with my status. This interaction occurred publicly and was embarrassing as a guest.
The situation was later addressed with a manager, who attempted to remove the fee. However, by that point, the damage had already been done. Speaking to and questioning a guest in that manner should not happen, and it put me in an uncomfortable position. I made it clear that I only wished to be charged for what I consumed, which was a half bagel and four pieces of fruit. I was ultimately charged $10, which still felt unreasonable given the circumstances.
Additionally, I booked this hotel with the expectation that my room would be cleaned daily. This did not occur. While getting ready for work one morning, housekeeping knocked on my door. I asked if they could return in an hour, which they did. At that time, I was only provided fresh towels. Not worth the money
