Staying in a cave was so awesome. Julia and the staff were amazing. The wine happy hour was fun and breakfast was very good. It was worth staying here. We did not get to use the pool area but it was calm, serene and beautiful. The entire facility had a calmness to it thst just relaxed you and made you feel welcome.

Fantastisches Hotel mit grossartigem Konzept, welches die Hotelübernachtung mit Kunst und Historie verschmilzt. Man muss aber gewillt sein sich in dieses Rollenspiel fallen zu lassen. Einziges Manko: die Matratzen sind wirklich ein Horror, viel zu weich und wirklich unangenehm.

Unique and memorable stay.

We knew we were in for something special and unique from the website and other reviews, but Moyseion still exceeded our expectations. They communicated in advance and recommended parking with a free shuttle service to the hotel. From our first look, we were blown away. The hotel was right in the heart of the sassi with incredible views from our room - room 12. We had a lovely welcome and welcome ceremony before heading to our room which was like something from over 2000 years ago but with all the mod cons. We swam in the pool which was so relaxing and like a warm bath in a beautful setting with robes and slippers provided. We were then entertained with an immersive experience into the world of Ancient Greece/Magna Grecia. As an extra treat, there was a personalised experience because it was our 40th wedding anniversary. We later attended the symposium and after more stunning music and dancing, we talked with the artists about their work, arts and performance with authentic food and drink. Breakfast the next day also included music and a beautiful selection of foods reflecting the authentic character of the hotel. Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful as well as passionate about their work and the hotel concept. A delightful experience we will never forget. Make sure you arrive early, don't book dinner until 8 pm at the earliest or a tour until 12 noon to allow time to enjoy all the hotel has to offer (parking company tour did a 12.00 tour which worked perfectly)

The best experience in 5 months of constant travel

I have been traveling for 5 months and this hotel was by far my favorite! I was blown away by the attention to detail, the powerful ritual and symposium and the incredible heated pool surrounded by replicas of goddesses. The couples’ massage was wonderful and the staff and experience couldn’t have been better. Mindblowingly great! We loved it!

Take a trip back in time and enjoy the stay of a lifetime at Moyseion Matera! Not just a hotel; this is a living museum and a true cultural experience. My host, David, greeted me on the night I arrived with a symposium: a delightful paleo feast of local fruits and wine accompanied by an entourage of musicians and dancers. And it was like that every night! Each day I took a swim in the dreamlike subterranean Roman thermal baths. The water was perfect! My room had all the modern amenities (climate control, rainfall shower) tucked away to maintain the visual authenticity of a historic dwelling. They spared no detail - ancient pottery and furniture replicas, lights flickering like torches... they even gave me a tunic to wear to each night's festivities. What can I say? I stayed an extra day. Bravo!
