Perfect retreat for some quiet

The Quinta da Moita is out of the way of the Douro Valley but well worth the detour. I stayed there 3 nights on a solo trip. The owners are fantastic, very sweet. The place is perfect for quiet respite, clean rooms, comfortable beds, great breakfast! I recommend to anyone for solo stay or couple gateaway! Their wines are great too! Just make sure to have food for dinner if you want to relax for the evening as everything is pretty far. But the drive is gorgeous and fun!

We loved our stay at Quinta da Moita. The property looks pristine, the owner and staff are super nice and helpful. You see José’s dedication to keeping the place clean and tidy and you can see him walking around feeding the animals and treating the vines. They have a nice bar with a few options including their own award-winning wine, which we very much enjoyed. Personally it was also nice to stay in a black owned business that looks and feels amazing! Can't recommend enough!

Mooie b&b in rustige omgeving. Fantastisch goed onthaal, goed bed en uitgebreid ontbijt. Wij willen in de zomer nog eens terug komen.

Extremely disappointed

This place is way, way off the beaten path. It was extremely disappointing the location this time of year. My daughter and I choose not to stay after learning that there were no amenities close by. Communication of exactly what to expect would he beneficial in choosing this place. We left anbhour after arriving, because we were both so uncomfortable

Ruhige Lage

Schöne Tage trotz schlechteren Wetters. Man fühlt sich wohl in der Unterkunft. Gute Weine auch. Leider kein Restaurant in dem Ort.

This property is wonderful (family of 4 with 2 kids). It is important to know that it is about 45 minutes outside the main douro area, uphill, very secluded. It is above the mountains, so the view is very nice but it is not the typical valley view. We knew that we would be far from everything, so we came prepared with groceries, and we booked the Panoriamic villa, so we had a kitchenette. It was so quiet and peaceful, the beds were extremely comfortable, the pool was unheated but sooo refreshing in the 35 degree heat. The property is very well kept and beautiful. The breakfast included was simple but perfect, and special since the owner baked delicious breakfast banana caramel cake. The stars at night are wild. To make it even better, they could have some other meal options for purchase, and a wine tasting and vineyard tour experience. Since it is far outside of the tourist area, inexpensive and very small (about 7 rooms), I understand how that may not be practical for them to do all that, and I give this place a 5 star regardless!!
