The room was nice & characterful. There was a lack of space around the beds & access to the window could only be had, by climbing over the bed.
Staff were not available & although he helped me down the stairs with my bag (I use a crutch) he was not very helpful in the dining area. Also the text re breakfast was misleading. As a Londoner I wouldn't say it was local to The Oval.

The room was clean, the bed very comfy. The staff friendly. Just gave it 4 instead of 5 because for £120 would atleast come with breakfast as I’ve stayed in 4 and 3 star for less with breakfast.

Convenience, price and decent standard of room with a comfortable bed.
Simple check in/out - friendly staff.
Accessibility would be an issue - lots of flights of stairs to my room - but if that’s not a major requirement I’d recommend it. My second stay as I go to an annual film festival just off Coldharbour Lane, and half the price of the Premier Inn I used to use in Brixton.

Our room was clean but very basic and what we consider to be ‘shabby’.
Simple updating would be so easy to do and make the hotel so much better.
First thing we did was closed the curtains which was difficult to do without fear of breaking the curtail pole.
We were disappointed and so glad we only needed to stay one night.

Will definitely stay here again. There is a kitchen for guest use. The setting is between a hotel and a hostel. Getting the code for check in took a little longer than expected since there is no front desk staff at night. But everything went smoothly after. Also the area appeared a bit sketchy at night, however it's a safe neighborhood with really nice houses around and we had no issues. The Turkish restaurants around the area were really good!

A great stay at Church Street Hotel!
The hotel was excellent, incredibly comfortable with everything we needed for a short stay. The room was really well equipped and incredibly spacious.
It felt a little dated but was all comfortable and in working order.
Staff were very friendly and helpful too.
Overall a great stay and excellent value for money!

bus stops very close to the area and a lot of dining places and fast food like KFC and McDo. I stayed in a single room with single bed and private bathroom (no door). The space is very tiny but is okay if you are frequently out.
