A surprisingly poor hotel

Threadbare carpets, corroded bathroom fittings and the most miserable staff in Ireland created a bad first impression. Add to that ordering two main courses in the restaurant, only receiving one and accepting a free dessert as compensation only to find the dessert adorned with mouldy fruit, the hotel is certainly one to avoid in the future. It is somewhat lifted by its position on a lovely sandy beach though the scene is spoiled by the huge pay and display car park meaning that when the sun shines, the beach is packed. We stayed in a non sea view room which, whilst we didn’t expect the best outlook, provided a shanty town style view so if you want to look out of your window, the €50 premium for a sea view may be worth paying.

Stunning beach view from my room which was very comfortable and clean. The food offer was very good but the poor staff were run off their feet and it did take a while to get your order taken. Beautiful location. The hotel is a little tired and could do with some tlc and not all communal areas were clean e.g. back stairs.

The room was a bit dated and shabby. Not as nice as the images. However, the hotel is well situated, right on the beach-front. The night before we were due to leave, we had booked for dinner for the family at 6pm. When we arrived for dinner, we were informed the kitchen was closed because the hotel’s gas supply was cut. Nobody had made any effort to inform us in advance of us arriving for dinner. We have two young children who were hungry. We tried to find somewhere local to eat, but couldn’t find anywhere to go appropriate for young children. We finally went to a local supermarket and bought food to eat in our room. The following morning the gas supply had still not been fixed and there was no hot water to allow us to shower before our journey home. There was no attempt by the hotel to assist with alternative eating arrangements or to apologise for the situation. It was a disappointing end to a lovely holiday in Ireland.

Schöne Unterkunft direkt am Strand. Baden war bei uns nicht drin, war aber auch nicht der Plan. Ein paar waren trotz des irischen Wetters mutig genug sich ins Wasser zu trauen. Frühstück sehr gut. Es gibt ein a la carte Menü und dann noch zusätzlich ein kleines Buffet mit allem was man nicht bestellen kann. Alles frisch zubereitet und lecker. Zimmer war sauber, Betten waren bequem hätten evtl. etwas breiter sein dürfen für 2 Personen.

Schön, aber ....

Die Lage des Hotels ist an sich schon wunderbar. Leider scheint sich das Hotel darauf "auszuruhen". Der angebotene Shuttle wurde nicht gewährt, Taxi musste selbst bestellt werden ... wer mit öV reist muss wissen, dass das Hotel 2.5km von der Trainstation liegt. Fenster konnte nicht geöffnet werden, war genau über der Raucherecke und Terrasse - eher laut. Das Restaurant und das Servicepersonal sind jedoch top!

Absolutely Appalling – Avoid at All Costs I recently stayed at the Shoreline Hotel in Dublin and can honestly say it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at any hotel. The property is in a disgusting state of disrepair – paint peeling, sticky floors, and bathrooms with brown-stained walls that looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The toilets were filthy and clearly not maintained. Even the grounds were strewn with rubbish, giving a first impression that only got worse. The front of house staff were unprofessional and indifferent, bordering on rude. The car park – supposedly offered as part of our stay – was full of rubbish and rusting bikes apparently belonging to staff who are actually living in the guest rooms. That alone is highly inappropriate and unacceptable for paying guests. Despite written confirmation that we could leave our car parked for a few weeks, I received a call a day later to say the car had been clamped, and now they are threatening to remove it entirely. I’ve sent multiple emails and they are now refusing to reply. This is not just bad service – it borders on harassment. As for the food – €110 for a single portion of fish and chips, a plate of vegetables, and two drinks is outrageous, especially when the quality was disgusting Greasy, bland, and clearly reheated – not remotely close to restaurant standard. The overall behaviour and condition of this hotel are disgraceful.

Et gamnelt hotel, forholdsvist gode senge, men hele værelset var gammelt halvmørkt og slidt, gardinerne kunne ikke trækkes fra, problemer med skinnerne, på toilettet stod toiltoapiret på en hylde bag ved og højt oppe. Ingen brødrister til morgenmad, så kedeligt iskoldt brød. Beligge heden er dog formidabel, helt ud til kysten.
