The hotel seems to be in the process of updating, but the outcome so far is that it is a bit tatty and cheaply done such as fixtures, rugs, etc. in one of our rooms, there was no means to control the temperature. The hallway reeked terribly of moth balls. Location was good. It’s an old hotel and has potential, but is unfortunately being managed by someone who cares more about pinching pennies than providing comfortable accommodation.

Room was the starkest I have ever experienced! Plus, barely room to move. It was hot when I entered and no way to regulate—so went down 1 of the 2 crickity elevators to the front desk and he sent the maintenance guy up. He had to unscrew some wall unit and turn off the heat and turn on the noisiest wall/window air conditioner! I will NEVER stay here again!

We stayed 3 nights and although we asked every day for heating in the room it was never resolved. The maintenance guy was able to get the heating working but it was making a scary noise like there was an escape of water. When we asked him to deal with the noise his resolution was to turn the heating off again. Noise off/ Heating off! The front desk clerk was apologetic that we had been cold the whole time. Her manager who was actually beside her, was completely indifferent.

The room was plain and outdated. The TV on the wall wasn't even in a location that you could watch from bed. The worst part though was the bed. The bed was probably 20 plus years old and very inviting. We actually ended up cancelling and losing two nights

Breakfast was not offered at this location which was fine. Hotel is dated but it was comfortable and clean. There was no refrigerator or coffee/tea in the room which again was fine. Elevator was slow but worked just fine. Hotel lobby decor is dated but adds to the charm of an older hotel. There was a window air conditioner which I used at night to block some of the street noise. Everything was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Such a cool old hotel. We enjoyed our stay there. The only downside is we were on the street side and didn’t get much sleep. As the saying goes, New York is the city that doesn’t sleep. They definitely do not. Construction, traffic etc.
