Lovely hotel in a perfect location in the centre of Cologne walking distance to shops and restaurants and the river. The only thing that is a let down is that you have to pay an extra €18 to use the gym! Baffling if you’re a paying guest already

We arrived at 5 pm, and after Checkin they told us our room was not ready, so I ask for the upgrade from Expedia gold. Took a couple of minutes but they did, suite was really nice in size, bed was not comfy for my taste but the rest was quite nice also their pool and gym. Would recommend it Dom and shopping street is within walking distance

first time visitors from Sydney Australia.i had booked a bigger room but a very good salesman on the desk said would i like even bigger room with entry to gym .Wasnt worth the extra upgrade so be wary .We did not use gym and he didn’t include breakfast .Towels were terrible ,small & scratchy .very old disgusting .Location was good close to old town ,river & central station .

Huge rooms

We were just here overnight, prior to boarding a river cruise. It was disappointing that the bar and restaurant were both closed due to annual holidays - we would likely have booked elsewhere if we had known this at the time of booking. We did not use the pool area or have breakfast, as this was charged at 34 euros per person, which seemed excessive. The reception staff were very helpful, and although the bar was closed we did find somebody who was happy to serve us drinks. The location was good and despite being on a main road the rooms were very well sound-proofed. The rooms themselves were exceptionally large and the beds very comfortable. Overall we were very happy with our stay.

This is a great location for getting to the train and walking to the cathedral. The shopping around the area was good. Some of the restaurants were very delicious. They did have a bar and restaurant in the hotel. I think just unfortunately the air conditioning didn't work which was why I booked this hotel, the building is seems old and I believe the hotel is doing their best to keep up the finishes but it's just a dated interior, or at least that's how it appeared. Our room did have a Jacuzzi tub. We didn't use it and I did like that the toilet was separate from the bathroom. Also having an elevator was very convenient. Breakfast was good.

Avoid, try and bleed you dry

on arrival reception staff tried to upsell better rooms , i pointed out that my hotels.com level means i get free upgrade to which these rooms quickly became unavailable. hotel description makes out there is a pool ... there isn't there is a spa that charges 20e a day next door!!! breakfast 30e per person per day , in main square breakfast available for 12e seems they are set up to try and grind every bit of money from you they can , which is never a good start to a break air con doesn't go below 19c pillows are awful
