This hotel is pitched as boutique, but as is often the case in Vail this typically means fewer amenities and a general air of pretentiousness.
Initial arrival was great, valet was super helpful and reception advised us room was not ready. When we came back from skiing we were given keys but told nothing about the property at all.
The hotel is a faux attempt at an Austrian chalet. Clearly very few people have been to Austria. It is somewhat contrived.
Housekeeping failed to remove used glasses and left someone else’s dental floss on our floor. Not impressed with the cleanliness on return after skiing.
Enforced valet parking is a given in Vail but when the valet cannot even look you in the eye until you tip them, and then starts doing their job, things are back to front. Do your job, earn your tip. I shouldn’t have to tip you and then wait for my car since you forgot - again.
Whilst every staff member seemed very friendly, no one actually seemed to care about the guests. On departure everyone appears out the woodwork - we had three staff trying to get a tip carrying our bags (we had four bags). When they stopped fighting over us and worked out we were not going to tip everyone who approached us they walked away and left us with zero help.
I have no problem at all tipping. I have a major issue tipping people to do their job before they have done it, to only receive half baked attention afterwards.
