#1 for 101

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable and nearby to many restaurants and attractions in the city. The two dinners that we had at Kastrup, the hotel’s restaurant were excellent.

Great hotel experience. Staff was awesome. If I went back, I would only stay here. Friends and family stayed nearby, and I would choose ours again.

The club next to the hotel is very loud and open very late on the weekends.

This was a wonderful hotel, and I would recommend it to anybody staying in Reykjavik! The staff were so kind and polite, and the facilities were clean and relaxing. The location is perfect and walk able to many bars, shops, restaurants. We spent many days before the hotel in a camper van traveling and this was the perfect stop to end the trip for 2 nights.

Right from the moment of check in, the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Luz, in particular, went out of her way to make my stay in Reykjavík memorable with her suggestions and help with bookings. The lobby was inviting and a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel had a great atmosphere.

The room was pretty spacious and clean. The hot tub in the basement was really good. The location is nice except getting pretty noisy on Saturday night.

It is situated perfectly within reach of everything. Clean and most helpful and courteous staff. Would definitely recommend and would return.

6/10 Good

Location is great, bus stop #6 just around the corner. Room is nice. Great design but not practical, especially for the shower. The noise from the street is not too bad even during weekend.

Impossible place to sleep and rest.

You can’t sleep at these place, you can hear literally everything. If you want to rest do not stay here.

the hotel and staff were great, but the music outside and then i found out there was a venue next door... blared until 3 am both nights. i used white noise and i could FEEL the music it was so loud. certainly that should have been in the notice because i needed good sleep with the active agenda i had...

6/10 Good

Super loud at night , rooms were not properly ventilated so I had to keep the windows open and people were partying until four in the morning every day.
Kimberly, 6-night trip

*Alert* property shares an entire building wall with a night club/dance. Though I like 90’s music, I’m partial to not hearing it at 1am through hotel wall, HVAC duct work and sink drains. Hotel staff were unable to assist at 1am. Wednesday night till Sunday is a problem.

Too Loud for Sleeping

My wife and I stayed at the 101 hotel, shelled out $558 U.S. Dollars (roughly €520,00 = ISK 82.000 = £341) for a night of no sleep. With the windows slammed shut, you could hear relentless shouting and screams from 10pm until 5:45AM and absolutely no privacy. Basically it would be easier to sleep in an airplane in economy class than in their hotel. At 3AM the noise was at its worst and the front desk informed us that the noise continues into the 5AM hour. Despite our dissatisfaction and the familiarity with the front desk to our noise complaint, we were offered a measly 10% refund for the night stay. The hotel lounge and decor is amazing, don't get me wrong, but this is no place to catch sleep. Go enjoy the lounge but strongly advise not to stay the night unless you plan on sleeping during the daytime and partying 11pm to 5:45AM.

6/10 Good

Pros and cons for this hotel. Cons: We were on front of hotel on 4th floor and on the weekend there was a lot of street noise and we could hear music from a club close by (all going on until early morning). The owner of the hotel and hotel staff were not overly friendly, but front desk was at least helpful (we had to go to Marriott Edition to meet one of our tours had 3 different staff greet us, offer to assist us, then just engage in friendly chit chat and we were not even staying there). Lastly our room was clean but had a modern minimal vibe, it was just not user friendly or cozy. Somehow just not convenient for trying to keep all our "travel stuff" organized. Mini frig temp was room temp even when temp turned low. You could not get close to the one bathroom mirror to put on makeup. Bathroom was completely open to bedrm and toilet had only frosted glass for walls and door (think echoing fish bowl). Pros: The hotel was in a great location for the main shopping and restaurant area of Reykjavik. It was across from bus stop 6 where many tours pickup. The bed and sheets were very comfortable. They provided a converted (but we did bring our own). We were traveling with another couple and decided over all the pros slightly out weighed the cons for us but for the cost of the room we expected a more luxurious or at least cozy room and would have liked staff to be friendly and more more accommodating considering they are in the hospitality industry.

4/10 Fair

Stylish, but too much noise and too little service

The best thing about this hotel it is also the worst: location. It's right by a great selection of restaurants, shops, and bars. That's super during the day and evening but not at night. The noise from drunken Icelanders and tourists spilling into the streets kept happening into the wee hours of the morning. Sleeping in Iceland during the summer is already a challenge due to the lack of darkness. Noise makes it much worse. Good things: the bed was very comfortable, and the safe was roomy. Other than that, the hotel scored high on style points but low on service and consideration of actual guest life. Examples: the shower remains open to the room, meaning that the whole room gets steamed up to a point of discomfort. The sink is also right there in the room, which guarantees waking up your mate if you need to use it at night. And the toilets require you to grab the inner rim of the seat in order to put it up or down. The staff we encountered were nice enough but not as eager to please as you might expect from a high-end hotel. They also seemed a bit out of it. For example, the hotel web site advertises a business center, but when I asked where it was, the guy at the front desk stared at me blankly and said he didn't know what I was talking about. Even if there web site is wrong (which apparently it is--there's no business center), there's no way I was the first person to ask this!

Great stay

Loved the view, room was clean, plenty of towels; loved the products, amenities top notch: robs, slippers, mini bar/drinks, love kit, umbrella; full wall mirrors; pillows great; firm bed. Convenient location- would definitely stay again/recommend

Muito bom

O hotel é muito bem localizado. Funcionários prestativos e simpáticos. Muitas obras de arte no hall do hotel q me encantaram. O único problema é q as vagas do estacionamento são limitadas e no primeiro dia não conseguimos lugar. O café da manhã é bem simples porém com preço adequado para o q fornece. Voltaria com certeza!

two nights in reykjavik

had two nights at the 101 hotel and booked a room with a balcony (515)...the room was very comfortable along with the bed, but the pillows were too soft to lay your head on, need firm with a soft. bathroom was very clean and everything worked fine. breakfast which is not included and should be from what was available was good along with the service.
