PLUSES: Friendly staff, very comfortable beds/pillows, lots of TV channels, very clean linens (a review a while back had reported bedbugs but I saw NO evidence of them and I even lifted up the sheets and checked the mattress.) Super easy access to casino and the Prairie Meadows horse track--way cheaper than staying at the casino, especially if you don't plan on being in the room much. I did not use the pool but I would have, if I'd brought swimwear. Pool area was clean, water looked clean, and the patrons who were using the pool looked satisfied.
WHAT I EXPECTED FOR THIS PRICE: Okay but not stellar free breakfast (a little on the carb-y side, no hot protein, but the waffle maker machine makes up for it), a little bit of noise from other guests but nothing creepy or scary. It's "machine syrup coffee" but it's still above average; a cup will hold you over until you can get to Starbucks 1.1 mile away or the Perkins down the street.
COULD BE BETTER: To their credit, I understand they have been renovating some rooms but the carpets and hallways are looking old, tired, and overused. Room was a tad musty smelling. My traveling companions were a little weirded out that their window was open when they arrived (I wonder if someone had been smoking/vaping in it previously). Still, nothing I'd call a deal-breaker for the price and the friendliness/responsiveness of the staff make up for their shortcomings since I merely needed a place to sleep to enjoy a holiday weekend.
