Tinha lido alguns comentários sobre o hotel e ficamos com receio mas para nossa grata surpresa o hotel nos surpreendeu positivamente. Quartos impecáveis, confortáveis e espaçosos. Roupa de cama de primeira! O hotel no geral está muito bem conservado. A comida dos restaurantes a la carte são incríveis e muito bem servidas. O Spices foi o que mais gostamos! O Ventanas também é sensacional. O café da manhã no buffet é simples mas gostoso. Se quiser pode tomar o café da manhã a la carte no Spices e será ótimo também. Gostamos muito dos drinks também. Não eram tão doces e artificiais como em outros resorts. A praia que está frente ao hotel é a melhor! Eles limpam todos os dias e tem muitas cadeiras de praia e sombra. É um hotel para ir descansar, os shows não são de destaque sinceramente, mas teve uma banda cubana e uma de rock que foram ótimos. O atendimento de TODOS os funcionários foi maravilhoso, super educados e prestativos. Teve um dia que pedimos para jantar no quarto e também foi ótimo. Quase na frente do hotel tem um mini centro comercial com algumas lojinhas de souvenirs e roupas bem legais. Vale a pena passear por lá. Enfim, voltaríamos e recomendamos com certeza!

You are on your own
I am a small business owner and rarely leave poor reviews but felt it would help others when deciding to stay at this property. Hotel doesn't have a "front desk" anyone you ask for anything will tell you to talk to the concierge. Supposedly there is a concierge at the lower level of each individual building, we only saw ours twice on our 5 night stay and he was basically useless. We asked for a bottle of liquor for our room (certainly willing to pay). We were told to talk to one of the bartenders. We asked if they had an ice machine, no ice machines but room service can bring you ice. We ate at the Asian restaurant and noticed they also had a habachi option. We asked but were told we only had a standard reservation. So seeing as we had another reservation in 3 days I asked if they could change it from standard to Hibachi, you guessed it, I was told to talk to the concierge. My wife had a health scare, can't call the front desk because there isn't even a button on the phone so I called room service. They assured me someone would call back in 2min, no call back. So we had to walk to the front of the hotel and track someone down who was absolutely no help. He didn't even know the pharmacy in the hotel was open which we figured out on our own. Asked for change 3 times so I could tip their employees to no avail, they don't have change. I could go on and on...They do have a beautiful beach and decent pools however if you want a pool chair wakeup at 6:30 or no dice!

Nice rooms and staff, the issues of this hotel is behind in the supervision and management. Impossible to get two same meals served the same way. Lack of staff and non organised kitchens are one of the reasons. I am not a complainer and we had good times, and everything on the surface looks good. But a little deeper many of the intentions to have international kitchens is very difficult to fulfill if the wish is to be authentic. I don’t think the chefs in the Italian restaurant ever have been in Italy… We miss that you at least make the Spices for a real authentic Mexican restaurant. Don’t serve anything else than the best from Mexico kitchen and don’t make it “American”. If the American people can’t eat in another way than on a cruise liner, they can choose one of the other restaurants. There must be so many original dishes that you want to show us, and serve with passion. Beautiful location and beautiful beach. Nice looking hotel and most of the drinks also very good, at least for an all inclusive hotel.

I want to start with we've visited this property on many occasions and really used to love it. Last time we were there was the summer of 24 and it seemed like Barcelo had been making a bunch of changes enough for the better. Cabanas used to be free now they charge for those. They seem to do work on the property all the time especially during prime time winter break 2024 the week we were there December 21st through the 28th. There was a lot of Maintenance being done on the building. One of the rivers they have there was completely drained and was being repainted that smelled like oil paint for days. Maintenance all around the property that made you feel that this wasn't a luxury property that we spent a lot of money on and wanted to try to relax. We heard some pounding and other Construction noises. The restaurants Spices that was adjacent to the main pool was closed for the first 3 days while we were there and we had to go up to the main building and have breakfast over there then go back to the pool. The staff at restaurants don't seem to listen very well, you order one thing and they bring you whatever they want. Wait staff at Spices for breakfast literally took 1.5 hours for breakfast and the place was basically empty. The hosts at Spices seem to want to seat you at the worst table possible and don't try to make you feel like you're a special client ever. Always seem to focus on themselves and being lazy versus trying to really shine. Not sure we're going back ever again.

Propriedade antiga, mas muito bem conservada. Tudo muito limpo e confortável. A praia em frente ao hotel é ótima. Funcionários muito educados e prestativos. Só jantei uma vez, no restaurante de comida mexicana, e estava tudo muito bom. Hotel tipo resort. Recomendo.

Es mi segunda vez en este hotel, es un concepto de gente mayor que va a descansar, sin ruido, fiestas, o desastre. Si alguien quiere verdaderamente desconectarse, éste es el lugar. Servicio excelente, limpieza inmejorable. El Único punto que debe mejorar, es que no tienen buenos chef en los restaurantes, la comida no sabe a nada y eso es una gran pena para tan buen hotel. Excepto el Restaurante Italiano que es bueno (sin ser excepcional, pero le doy una buena calificación), el Resto de resto de la comida deja mucho que desear. Me arrepiento de no haberme quedado más días, ya que la estancia fue muy agradable. No sé si regresaría por la comida, ya que es un hotel cuatro diamantes … o sea, nada barato y sí esperaba más.

I stayed at this property back in 2012 when it was truly a deluxe 5 star resort. With the property changing ownership it has slipped from its former 5 star status to more a 4 star. It is still very nice and I would certainly consider it again despite the slipping rating. This is a very quiet small boutique property that has the appeal for those that prefer to not be in a crowd at a mega resort. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is very attentive. The menus are static, so for anyone staying longer than a week, the food will become boring. The food & beverage managers need to make sure that staple items in the bars do not run out (This happened several times during my recent week there). Better communication to the guests needs to happen when changes to venues occur, such as restaurant closures due to rain damage. There was a lack of posted notifications as to what alternate options would be available. There needs to be better posting of the evening entertainment. The only spot where I found the entertainment list was at the pool kiosk where you get beach towels. I really like the feel of the resort being so quiet and secluded amongst the mega resorts, but a few improvements could bring it back to a wonderful 5 star experience.

Did not meet Expectations
Beautiful property. But there are a lot of gaps in the overall experience. Not enough servers. Ordering a drink at the pool bar was a hassle and felt very 3 star. (Servers and waiters were fine, just not enough of them). The gazebo and waterway is nice….but the last half of it toward the beach was idle. No water. Really ugly. Not what you expect to see at this type of resort. The room was nice. The bathroom feels dirty due to old age. Our concierge was not there a lot of the time. We found assistance at another villa. We understand people have to be away. Again, just giving you my impression in case it’s helpful. The restaurants are exquisite. Dining service was overall wonderful, although the sit down breakfast was extremely slow on 12/17. Please understand: The servers were great…..but you generally don’t want to spend an hour and a half at breakfast. I had a very hard time finding a place on line to make dining reservations ahead of our trip. Our confirmation told us to make them 7-10 days out…..and showed an email address of xxx-xxx. Our couples massage at the spa was really nice. Gym was adequate. There was confusion at the gate on the evening we arrived. Guard told our driver someone with my name (Hunt) had already arrived. We waited for that to get cleared up. We even were questioned when we arrived for dinner….because someone with my name was also on the list. Being honest. A beautiful place. But needs attention.

Easy access to the beach, clean areas to either sunbathe or stay on the shade. Pool area is close to drinks , which were goood. Staff always willing to help, meals at different restaurants were tasty and fresh!
