The 2 queen room we reserved was not available when we arrived. The staff offered a 1 king room instead. It was late and we were tired, so we agreed. The front desk was only supposed to charge my card $0.54; however, they incorrectly charged $90 to my card (above the $102.46 we paid through the hotels.com app. The rate advertised was $89/night). We went to unload our luggage and the hotel had no luggage carts. Walking to our room, the marijuana smoke was so thick, it was difficult to breathe and I started feeling the effects of the drug in the air. The room itself was not clean. It was well below any standard of cleanliness. Among other things, there were chips strewn across the floor. There was pubic hair on the toilet. The marijuana smoke was as thick in the room as it was in the hall. It appeared as though someone had been using that room to smoke and eat just before we arrived. My kids and I returned to the front desk to cancel and request a refund, but the front desk person didn’t know how to process this. They were unable to provide any documentation supporting that both charges were refunded. I eventually left with nothing but their word that the $192.46 total we paid for the wrong room (which was advertised as $89/night), would be returned. I sat in the parking lot until the effects of the 2nd hand marijuana smoke wore off and I could safely drive to another hotel.
