This was by far our worst experience in Playa, and we have been going there. It would be way too much to detail, but the staff was fairly rude and the quality of everything is just not good. Way too expensive for what you get, and to make matters worse, now they get sargasso all year round and their beach is gone, they have almost no sand.

Curtesy and politeness was great when staff was directly addressed but staff was not saying hi when passing by this is free makes a long way. The number of free activities were good as well as entertainments. Show at the show room on the second floor should have tables instead would permit to guest to enjoy the show as well as have a drink. Towels should be to the number of guests in the room, shampoo should be different than hand wash. Things can be improved but all in all it was good not excellent but good.

Beautiful property, gorgeous beach good food. But the staff makes it really hard to enjoy your stay. They’re fixated on enforcing the rules and they’re very black-and-white and they’re thinking. For instance, they don’t give you more than one beach towel per day. Even if it’s pouring rain, how our guests supposed to dry and swim, if the towels are soaked from the rain. They have so many rules and are very stubborn about it. The resort is not focussed on making it a pleasant experience.

The resort is beautiful, food is great, beach amazing HOWEVER our staff ruin the good vibe!!!!… the RULE!!!!! The staff is stiff and fixated on enforcing the black and white rules For instance: they would only give you one swim towel per day, they wouldn’t want to change the towel for us it even if it rained allllll day! We are there to swim!!! One towel is not enough! without sun! staff is stubborn and would not allow reasoning! So we had to air dry as there is not way for guests to dry towels! Another thing, a cousin came over to say hello, and they wouldnt let us have a visit in the lobby, because the rule is only guest can set foot in the property! Even the lobby. They were on our backs to get off the lobby and have the visit on the side of road! Again! This resort is not focused on how to make the stay for guests enjoyable. They are fixated on the rules! Wouldn’t recommend this place, even though it was a beautiful resort. :(

The staff are nice and the housekeeping is excellent! The bed is comfortable. The room is bare bones and there is only one pool which would be fine except they kept having very loud kids activities so you couldn’t really enjoy the pool or poolside.

Wonderful hotel for a quiet vacation with the family. Pool was nice and beach beautiful, even though it was damaged by a recent storm. Entertainment was alright but not a huge choice or variety of shows. It is geared more towards the quiet crowd rather than the party crowd.The buffet was delicious and always had a wide variety of dishes available. Restaurants were good but nothing out of this world. Staff was friendly and accommodating, but we disliked the timeshare/VIP pushiness and that areas were designated for those people only. Feels divisive in my opinion. If we are dropping that much money on a vacation as it is, guests should all be treated well and not like some are better than others. If you were not willing to pay a lot of money into a time share and are not one of the VIP folks that had a show in their lounge nightly, there wasn’t much to do but if you like a quiet, relaxing vacation and early bed time you’ll like this resort.

The property was exactly what we thought it would be as far as looks! The beach and pool were the best parts of the resort. Unfortunately we had terrible customer service from the time we arrived to the time we departed. There was transportation from airport to resort advertised on the booking. When I called to schedule I was told three different things by three different people. Upon arrival to Mexico, we had to find our own transportation to the resort. When attempting to book it for departure back to the airport we were told they didn’t even have a shuttle. Strange thing was, as we were in our own transportation back to the airport we saw a large shuttle in front of us with big words VIVA AZTECA. So that was clearly a lie. Staff was rude and not accommodating. The restaurants were less than great. We were expecting much better cuisine quality. Overall I would not recommend this specific resort to anyone I know!

We enjoy the buffet, particularly their fresh fruit, home made bread, seafood options particularly tuna steaks on BBQ night, and little desserts and ice cream. It is nice there are no resevations required now for the restaurants. Snack bar and drinks by the pool is great. I wish they had chips more than one time to go with the guacamole. Room had comfy beds, good hot water and nice garden view. WiFi was not strong enough at night to watch a movie but good for emails etc. Some noise from room above when they moved furniture. I have to say the leaf blower starting at 7am has got to go. Terrible sound when you are trying to enjoy the morning peace. I mentioned it to the front desk. Friendly staff always. Love the chaise loungers facing the ocean. The whole beach that was a volleyball court has washed away. You can still walk up and down the beach easily, and see great sunrises. I would go back again!

Elisa Bini in guest services made our visit very special again this year. We will be back. The Bamboo restaurant was our favorite and Manuel was our waiter for a number of nights. He did a great job and was very friendly! Well done.

Nice property with beautiful scenery. Wide palm lined beach area - however, erosion near water. We enjoyed 5 nights at this resort. We went to the Maya as well. We liked things at both resorts. The restaurants had decent food but the buffet and pool buffet food was not good. The only time it was decent is when they had the grills set up and were grilling chicken . Overall it was a nice place but food could be better.

It was my girlfriend and I first time in Mexico and we decided to stay at viva Azteca. Needless to say we throughly enjoyed our entire stay and didn’t have any complaints. Will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend the resort to others. Viva Mexico!
