I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience.
Positives first – the bed was very comfortable, and the free parking was a definite bonus.
However, I was quite disappointed with the cleanliness of the bathroom. On arrival, I found faeces marks in the toilet pan, which I can only assume were left by a previous guest. This was not only unpleasant but also completely unacceptable, especially from a hotel that promotes its “Clean Promise” and claims to uphold high standards of hygiene.
I reported the issue to a member of staff, and a young male employee came to my room with a toilet brush to clean it. He was incredibly polite, understanding, and apologetic. I genuinely felt sorry for him having to deal with such a task, but he handled it with professionalism and kindness. He was the only member of staff who really stood out in terms of customer care.
I also informed Beth at reception. She apologised and offered me a complimentary soft drink at the bar. While I appreciated the gesture, it felt like a minimal response to a situation that clearly breached the hotel’s own cleanliness standards. There were no further efforts to make amends or follow up.
The hotel’s “Clean Promise” was clearly not upheld in this instance, and that’s disappointing. Cleanliness should be a basic standard, not a bonus, and unfortunately, this experience left me questioning the reliability of that promise.
I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve room checks and overall
