This is a lovely hotel with excellent staff, but they added extra charges to my room (valet even though I had no car) and won't respond to my messages. This always (and only) happens when I use hotels.com. It's too bad because I'll be back in Houston multiple times and will have to find another place to stay and another way to book.

A little let down
My room did not get very cold - there’s an old thermostat with no way to tell what temp it was, but I set it down as low as it would go and it ran all night and so I know it never reached the the low 60s. I was too hot under the blanket so I asked for a lighter blanket which they didn’t have so I got extra sheets and stacked it and worked ok, but I was surprised they don’t have lighter blankets as an option. The first person I asked just said they don’t have other blankets and didn’t try to find any other options for me, and I had to call back another person to see about other solutions.
I also ordered a king room but got a queen room (although I was ok with this, it was just me but it’s good to actually give people what they booked).
Loved the pool and the lobby was nice. My room was a little dated and some of the furniture worn down, with little things (rubber bands and earring backs) from the previous stay were left on the bathroom counter so I question if it actually got cleaned.
I recently stayed at hotel zaza austin and it was a far nicer hotel and experience for the same price so I was expecting it to be more like that. Far from it to be honest.
