Lovely property right on the beach. Rooms are large & have a great kitchenette & refrigerator. Bar & dining are excellent. Great buffet breakfast with many options including eggs, pancakes etc. You have chairs & towels provided & there is drink service to the beach. The area near by has a grocery & several dining options. What would be nice in thè area is maybe a little more shopping options & maybe a bar/lounge for the evening other than Bikini Beach or the irish pub. Driving to Phiilipsburg or Marigot is not for the faint of heart. The beach area is clean & well kept, however in June it did suffer from seaweed as did most of the islands in the Carribean. The hotels etc do what they can but it is mother nature.

The hotel was very nice. Room was spacious and clean but there is barely a view of the ocean because of how the buildings are situated. The food was decent, it was the same breakfast every day. Staff was lovely and helpful and there are plenty of dining options behind the property. Beach was nice but unfortunately there was a lot of seaweed the week we were there so we went to other beaches instead-not the hotels fault.

My crew and I had a great time at the resort, everything was beautiful, the rooms was super cute we stayed in the classic suites and the beach area was even better… Catherine and the whole entire staff was great some of the other names was Benedict and Russel there was another young lady with beautiful green glasses as well that was super sweet and helpful and made our time stay very nice and exactly what we wanted! Please book here and you will not be disappointed!!!!

This is a lovely hotel. Front desk staff are wonderful as is the bartender. The resort has large and comfortable rooms. There are some downfalls to be aware however. First is the large amounts seaweed coming up from the beach, note this is the only beach I had this experience at in SXM. Secondly, and this may have been my isolated experience, but there are stray dogs around that kept defecating on our patio everyday. And in the building closest to the spa there were large palmetto/cockroaches running around the walkways every day at dusk.... a bit unsettling. I would say regardless, La Playa is still an excellent option in Orient Bay.

We were there in late May - we loved the quiet, relaxing vibe but also loved that it was walkable to lots of restaurants. Breakfast was average and the same each day. They only gave one beach towel per day and you had to let them know when you were returning it. Only one towel per person in the hotel room and no washcloths despite there only being liquid soap provided for the shower. Showerhead was amazing and water pressure was excellent! You can only use the padded beach chairs until 5pm and they are strict on that. Beach had lots of seagrass (not their fault of course)- a tractor tries to move it each morning but it’s everywhere. It’s a windy area so it’s fun to watch the kite surfing in Orient Bay but not a great place to swim or lounge in the water. The black out shutters were amazing to keep the sun out at night.

This property is not what it seems online. The setvice was fair except at night. The evening workers were very pleasent. Ocean veiw means at about a quater of a mile you can see the middle of the ocean. Seaweed covers the entire beach front. Do yourself a favor and book a different hotel on the Dutch side. I read reveiws before I book anything and i wish i would of known what I learned about LaPlaya Hotel. Waste of money. DONT STAY HERE.

Breakfast was buffet and nice, but same everyday. So we did venture out after four mornings with the same thing. The little village had some great restaurants for dinner. Was nice not to have to pay for the beach chairs. Room was beautiful. There is a little grocery store around the corner as well. We rented a car to visit the attractions since this is a little secluded.

Cute hotel and Staff was amazing and kind, place is quiet and just perfect after a day of adventure and excursions. It may be too quiet during low seasons but we don’t mind that. I can just imagine how lovely the place during peak times.

Property condition is below average with the exception of the room that we stayed in. Restaurant condition is below average, the breakfast is a joke literally. Staff in the restaurant and te bar need to trained for a good customer service. I feel that i was not welcoming and they were doing us a favor. On the other side the staff that work in the lobby are lovely and helpful
