Not a Quality Wyndham

They only redeeming quality of this hotel is the proximity to the train station. Except the pulsating vibration from the train during the night can be a bit disorienting. I am surprised this is a Wyndham property. It may be time for the company to do a quality control check if you are to put your name to this hotel. I entered the lobby and was dived bombed by flying insects. The staff stated that they have been there for some time and just can't get rid of them. The front staff could use some customer service training but you can't blame them too much as the manager sets the tone for their employees. We requested additional pillows for the room and called down to the front desk to ask if they could bring them up. The person was confronting and accusatory on the phone and perturbed when they brought the pillows up. This is Alaska in the summer and black out curtains that go around the rod to block out the sun from the sides would be greatly appreciated. I opened the door to the toilet/ shower area and was blocked by the curved shower curtain rod. So the door only opened half way. With limited space in the room a curved curtain rod would not be my choice. The hotel could use some detail custodial cleaning as well. The first day breakfast was not stocked and the person serving was obviously annoyed and not having a good day. The second day's breakfast was much better. This was a very disappointing stay at a Wyndham, and will probably effect my hotel selection in the future.

Expensive and a tired hotel.

The hotel is tired and dated, the pool was green, and I mean green. Blew the breaker with just the tv/ac on.., the person that came to reset it apologized and said “the only thing that changes around here is the owners”. I know it’s not the hotels fault but the trains are relentless, the f’n horns go on for ever. Very handy location, but the hotel is just run down. For $300 a night I expect way more.

It was Fine

The front desk staff were great; super friendly and professional. The property is just a bit tired and felt a tiny bit less clean than I would have liked. Also, and this has happened at a few places we've stayed recently, one bar of soap that has to be carried back and forth from the sink to the shower is just ridiculous. But, the bed was comfortable, sheets crisp and clean and the price better than other places in town.

Don’t stay here

This hotel was gross and way over priced. We had a “suite” with a bedroom. There was a full kitchen but no plates/utencils/pots. And the extra room had no lights. Not overhead or lamps.

Just okay

The room was clean but there were no chairs to sit on. The beds were comfortable and the staff was friendly. On the other hand the breakfast was pretty awful and the swimming pool was not heated. Given the price I believe they could do quite a bit better.😐

Location was great since I wanted to be close to the train station. Slept well in the bed, but wasn't sure I was going to get hot water in the shower - IT TOOK FOREVER!! Staff was great as was the shuttle service.

This motel is a very OLD motel with zero amenities …. The breakfast staff was overwhelmed with no management help - the shuttle was clean and available. Old Shower had Luke warm water and leaky sink. Management not very friendly or accommodating

We were surprised how run down this place was. Our room had no furniture in the sitting area. The latch on the door was gone so no security lock. Not enough help in the breakfast area so the gal could not keep up with the breakfast rush. Got back to hotel at night to find out that our key had been deactivated. The only nice thing was they offered a shuttle to take you places.

Dump. Save your money and stay at a nicer hotel. Will not allow for early check in. Prepare to wait in line for check in at 3pm as they turn you away from checking in any time before 3. Place is old and air filters dusty and haven’t been changed in a long time. The only positive I can say is that it’s close to train station and has a shuttle to it as well.

All the comments are right! It is a horrible place. Although it is true that most hotels are a bit outdated in Anchorage, this is beyond that. The pillows smelled of sweat. The sink had hair as if someone had just shaved before I got to the room. Once I finally got my room as booked, it wasn't any better. I kept stepping on screws and the furniture unfortunately took a tall from the refurshbiment people talk about in the comments. It is as if they refurbished but did not clean afterwards. The breakfast is just stuff that can be stored forever. Of course, unhealthy items. In the morning, the smell of bacon wakes you up. And the train station is opposite, so you'll have to get used to the horn of the train, which sounds like it is in your room. Nothing they can do about it, but the cleanliness and service could very much be improved. Very low standards for the price. You could get a better place for the same price.
