If I got a reservation in a two star hotel and it was like my stay, I would have been pleasantly happy with the quality of the trip. The AC was flaky, the control panel was broken, the TV remote was missing, the pillow (one per person) was shockingly uncomfortable (worse than my ten dollar pillow from Action), and the beds themselves had poor quality sheets. The lights as well did not work in most of the room, and we were only offered one key which seems low. Through Hotels.com, I got a deal for 45% off one of the rooms to stay here – for what I paid, it was very much worth it. However, there were no "4 star hotel" amenities or accommodations in sight, and we were not told about any if there were. Having a restaurant alone does not earn you four stars, though I cannot attest to the quality of the breakfast as we left before that. The service was good, at least.
For summary: if I had these same conditions in a two star hotel, I would feel right at home. But being promised a four star hotel and receiving what I did does not seem sufficient. I would never ask for or take a refund, as we enjoyed our stay in Antwerp.
